  Where to begin. I checked in today after a very long travel day. The manager is just nasty. She's curt, not friendly, and not helpful. The bar was conpletely empty and there was a line of 6 people wauting to check in. I asked the bartender if I could get an iron. His response "this is the bar. You need to ask at reception" with a very curt tone. The rate was very high due to Hannover Messe, and the service and lack of amenities make this a 2 star hotel. Not enough irons (the rooms dont have irons, you have to request at the front desk eveey time you need one, you can't control the temperature of your room, no washcloths, no real coffee maker (powdered instant), and the walls are so thin you can hear every noise above and next door. Another guest heard how the manager was speaking to me and said something about it as we ended up in the elevator at the same time. I travel extensively for work and will never stay at one of these hotels again.   I would have liked this hotel but they have issues

  Hotel is close to the Hauptbahnhof and U-bahn, convenient to get to the Old Town. Check-in was easy and they can hold luggage if you arrive early. Suppose to have a bar (closed until January but no signs indicating that) and free daily coffee, haven’t seen any hot coffee in 2 days and dirty coffee cups still sitting on the counter. No coffee or hot water in the room. My room card stopped working after 2 days (of a 4 day stay). Young desk clerk seemed confused and I had to wait 20-30 minutes before someone else arrived to resolve it, unacceptable! Room is comfortable but no room cleaning until after 3 days (not daily).   Convenient, clean & comfortable room for one. I didn't have a QR code for self checkin and there was no one at the front desk upon arrival. There was a sign that said if it was unattended, call this number & someone will always be available to answer - well, they weren't. I, along with another guest had a 20 minute wait to be helped. This was after a very long day's travel & it was after 9:30pm which made the situation, with the untruthful sign, even more frustrating. My bedding was somewhat worn with a tear in the cover. Nice touch of a complimentary bottle of water and added bonus of free public transport travel card for duration of stay - was unclear how to apply, but asked reception & it was a relatively simple sign up process online with the hotel chain. No other complaints. Centrally located, within walking distance to main areas of the city and very close to central station. Decent view of the city from the 12th floor.   The hotel is located behind the main train station and is easy to reach. Public (payable) parking spaces are close. Unfortunately, like many large train stations, there are a number of homeless people and drug addicts here, so the route to the hotel doesn't exactly promise a sightseeing tour. The train station itself offers a wide range of shops, snack bars and acceptable restaurants. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel there are also various restaurants including quite good ones and the Pavillon cultural center, which offers not only a restaurant but also good events (German language). The "Lister Meile" shopping street is also close, with smaller shops and more restaurants here. On the other side of the train station begins the pedestrian area with all the well-known large chain shops and also a number of restaurants and cafés. Sights such as the new town hall can also be easily reached on foot.The hotel tries to get you to check in yourself at a machine with a QR code, but unfortunately this doesn't allow you to check in before 3 p.m., even if the room is already ready - but this can be done through reception.Check in was friendly and efficient, check out was very quick. Storing my luggage until the evening was no problem. However, when I picked it up, I found it very strange that the employee who was busy checking new arrivals in said that I could take my luggage from the storage room myself. I then wanted to show him the tags for number matching, but he didn't look at it. Even if it was well-intentioned to speed things up, this is not acceptable for security reasons.The room corresponds to the 4 stars that the hote hasl. It's big enough, the bed is good, and there's air conditioning. A desk with a chair allows you to work, and the often-forgotten power socket at the desk is also available. There is a nice, large rain shower in the bathroom, and the water pressure and temperature can be easily adjusted.There is a minibar in the room that you can fill yourself - very practical given the nearby Lidl discount store in the main station. A bottle of water (0.3l) is provided free of charge. In the bathroom you will find enough shampoo and facial tissues as well as the usual hairdryer. Everything is working fine. The 2 elevators were a bit slow and a bit of a bottleneck at times.If you skip the room cleaning you get a 5 Euro voucher for the bar (cannot be credited for breakfast, only bar). That sounds like a lot, but it's only enough for a 0.2 liter cola and not even a coffee. A normal cafe creme or cafe latte at the bar costs 5,50 Euro. at least the bar is quite nice but just in the way from entrance to the lifts, so there is quite some trafic. There als is an inside smoking room.Breakfast can be taken in the Hotel, but you find cheaper and better in some of the places nearby.
