  My stay was not good. There was no air conditioning in my room at all. I informed the guy at the front desk who basically brushed me off and told me – without even getting up from his chair – that I was supposed to slowly decrease the temperature from 24° to 23°, wait several minutes, then decrease to 22°, wait again, etc. until I reach 18°. As ridiculous as that sounded, I gave it a try, and of course it did not work. So I went back to the front desk after an hour. The guy had been replaced by a woman who was much more sympathetic. She came up to my room and saw for herself that it was almost 30°. She fiddled with the control, could not get it work, so offered to look for a different room for me. She came back a few minutes later and said she checked at least four other rooms and none of them had air conditioning. Her only advice was that I sleep with the window open, which I did. But on the second night, a group of kids in the park across from the hotel were shouting and laughing till well past 3:00 AM. Between that and the temperature, it was impossible to sleep.I see now some comments from other guests about a lack of air conditioning so this seems to have been a longstanding problem.Apart from the air conditioning, the safe in my room also did not work. I told the staff but they were unable to fix this either. And then one of the elevators in the hotel was broken one evening. So on the whole, the hotel looks nice on the outside but seems to be falling apart inside.

  Tired looking hotel, rooms small, staff unfriendly. Checking was poor, not very welcoming, bar staff kept on leaving the bar so service was non existent.Toilet rolls not replaced, towels not replaced and windows left open during the day so room was freezing when we got back. Room AC was also not great.

  The Mercure Hannover Mitte is an excellent hotel, in a pretty good location. It’s typical of the Accor brand at this level and it feels almost brand new (I don’t know how long it has been open). Our room (233) was perfect. Not the biggest of rooms but it didn’t need to be. The bed was very comfortable and it had all the amenities we required. It looked out on to a park which provided a view better than most city centre locations. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide selection of both hot and cold items. It got quite crowded at the weekend but the staff coped with this admirably. The communal areas and small bar area were pleasant as well as comfortable. The transport hub at Steintor, was a 10 minute walk away. All the staff we interacted with were polite and efficient. So why not five stars?Before I begin, let me stress that any problems were of MY making. I failed to notice when I booked that I only listed one guest, (forgetting about my wife). First problem - finding contact information on the website isn’t easy. It follows the trend of businesses today in that they don’t really want to communicate with customers and seem to try their best to dissuade you from doing so. I did manage to get an email address (that does not mention the hotel name at all) and posted two emails - both of which went unanswered. So I contacted Accor head office who promised they would get the hotel to contact me. They did this three times. Helpfully supplying me with the email address I had already written to - twice. On the third attempt I was contacted by the hotel (thank you Jennifer) and the whole thing was resolved quickly. When we arrived, I simply paid the difference agreed to and everything was “sweetness and light” from that moment on.I can thoroughly recommend the Mercure Hannover Mitte but please make sure your booking is for the correct amount of guests if you want the best experience.

  Great location, but also quiet

  I really enjoyed staying here and was sorry that it was only for one night. The location was fantastic - walking distance to Hannover Hauptbahnhof. but quiet as it's on the edge of the city centre. I slept really well. The breakfast was excellent - a buffet, with fresh rolls and a range of hot and cold dishes. Everything else was exactly as you would wish: reliable Wi-Fi, comfortable bed, great shower, clean and spacious. Highly recommended.   Very good hotel, good location

  We spent 5 nights at this hotel and were really pleased with it, from check in to check out all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our double room was very nice, clean and comfortable. It had plenty of of hanging and drawer storage for our clothes, plus 2 chairs, the bed was really comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. The bathroom could have been slightly larger but it was fine. We both enjoyed our breakfasts, there was a great selection of cold and hot food, plus the hot food was actually at the right temperature. The bar had 2 draught beers on tap, one national and the other local, both very good. Unfortunately the bar was shut on the Saturday evening, plus shut early (21.30 hrs) the next 2 evenings because of private functions, which was really annoying and frustrating, that was our only complaint. There were other bars close by which were very good and served food. There were also lots of restaurants close by and a very good ice cream cafe to the right of the hotel. The hotel was in a great location, about a 15 minute walk from the main railway station and centre, tram station about 7 minutes walk. Hannover is a very walkable flat city with lots of green spaces to enjoy. If we go back we would definitely stay here again without hesitation.
