    Never again!!!

    rating27 Dec 2025

I stayed for 9 nights from 17th December. Highly disappointed overall:Room was small but very clean and modern. Had been recently renovated it appeared.Upon arrival only one lift was working. We were informed this was the case since September 2025! Parts are not available for the broken lift. Then surely replace it??The one which worked was slow and dodgy. It was completely out of order on Christmas Day (25th) thus no lifts working at all. A technician was working on the one lift which did operate on the previous days. After a long tiring journey we wanted room service : room service does not exist! There is no telephone in the room. Thus in case of an emergency there is no way of communicating with reception not to mention day to day issues which arise when one requires a phone. I have never anywhere in the world stayed in a hotel room without a phone and one wonders how they are able to operate without any way of communicating in case of an emergency. Not even any form of panic button! We were informed they were to acquire “suite pads” for every room but they didn’t know when!!! What about the gap from when Leonardo took over from Novotel. Seems unbelievable there is no way to communicate. Even having a WhatsApp number to their computer would suffice. I was ill with flu and spent four days in bed. It would have been nice to have been able to ring down to reception to ask for toilet rolls, coffee pods, tea etc to be placed at the door. There was no kettle to boil water for tea. We drink tea and it was not great having to heat the water with the coffee machine. Especially so as the machine did not have a long enough lead to move it, thus making it very difficult to get the water down the back.No amenities in bathroom as I have experienced at other Leonardo Hotels. A container which acted as soap, body wash and shampoo. No body moisturiser. The towels were too small. We were two people and there were two small towels and two hand towels. Not enough if wanting to wash hair. We requested extra towels which arrived promptly but house keeping removed them two days later so it was back to one very small bath towel per person. There was no Do not Disturb sign. I made my own out of tissues. Told reception the next day. However it took three days to get one!We asked for directions to the closest Rewe. The gentleman sent us to one beyond the station in the pitch dark in -2 degrees. We discovered one 5 minutes away the next day. Flat terrain no uphill walk from beyond the station.I asked Reception if she knew of a nearby Doctor. I was informed it was her first day in Mainz and her first day at the Leonardo! I told her to ask a colleague. There was no one to ask! What a disgrace on the part of management to leave a new recruit without any assistance! I totally blame management for all the issues we faced. This is not the fault of the staff! The hotel is completely mismanaged! Will never return. The night we left we stayed at the Sheraton on Frankfurt Airport. The rate was less and hotel outstanding. So sorry Leonardo is cutting costs to this extent resulting in a “zero” frills hotel. It’s okay for one night but never would I have booked it for 9 nights if I had known the complete lack of services offered!

    Great location and service

    rating10 Dec 2025

It was a really comfortable stay. We really enjoyed the location, amenities and the room. The room was really comfy, spacious and clean. Bathroom was a good size without a tub but a nice large shower. It also had a connected hairdryer. There were no bathrobes nor slippers. I mini fridge and coffee corner was also great to have with a complimentary bottle of water. The Parking was a bit confusing to find and the receptionist wasn't sure how to direct us but we managed after going into one parking, taking it out (paying the cost ) and finding our way back into the correct entrance. There is pool and sauna but only opens up after 5pm which wasn't convenient since most people in evening hours are out for dinner and drinks - early afternoon access would've been nice. The bar area was a bit small since the lobby was full but anyhow a late night drink after dinner outside was nice at the bar area.

Clean, nice, but staff is hot Garbage

    rating30 Nov 2025

Rooms and clean, location is good. Comfort and design are both very solid, even in reception area. But my god, service is HORRENDOUS. The only normal people you will see are at reception and 1-2 in cafeteria. The rest - in cafeteria and room cleaning are literally garbage brought in without any teaching on how human beings communicate. They are incredibly rude, absolutely horrendous. Managment should be shamed for this

Extremely Negative Review for Novotel Mainz

    rating17 Jun 2024

I had an extremely negative experience at Novotel Mainz that left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. From the moment of check-in, none of the reception staff bothered to inform us of any changes in service hours or other important variations. This total lack of communication with the guests is unacceptable. One evening, I went down to the hotel bar around 9:15 PM for an aperitif while waiting to dine at the hotel restaurant or at least at the bar. However, when I asked to see the menu to order a simple frozen pizza, the bartender rudely told me that the restaurant was already closed and suggested I find a kebab place down the street. This rude behavior was just the beginning.I pointed out to the bartender that, according to the official Novotel Mainz website, the restaurant closes at 9:30 PM, so I was still in time to place an order. In response, I was accused of lying and told not to disturb further. I then showed them the website to prove I was right, but I was treated with even more rudeness. The restaurant manager then got involved and showed me a bulletin board near the elevator with a notice in German and English indicating a new closing time of 9:00 PM. No one had bothered to inform me or my colleagues of this change, and I wonder how an international guest, who does not speak German or English, would have known about it. This total disorganization is unacceptable for a hotel that prides itself on high standards. Finally, I spoke with a supervisor and suggested heating a frozen pizza in the microwave to resolve the issue without further problems. Even after trying to be accommodating and personally returning the dishes to the kitchen, the situation worsened when I asked for two separate bills: one for the dinner and one for the beers during the aperitif. The bartender initially refused, claiming it was impossible, and only after my insistence did I get the two separate receipts. This made me feel completely taken for a fool, as something supposedly impossible was suddenly achievable after my complaints.Despite my willingness to find an amicable solution, this hotel demonstrated complete disorganization, incompetence, and unacceptable rudeness. The experience was a huge disappointment, especially considering the standards Novotel claims on their website. In all honesty, I will never recommend this hotel to anyone due to its extremely low level of service, lack of professionalism, and especially the immense rudeness and lack of respect towards paying guests.

    Basic

Room had a great shower and all the vital items for a decent stay. The gym was not a gym. It’s way too small and has barely any equipment. Would suggest investing in more space and items! The restaurant had a very limited menu so I ordered Uber eats both nights I was there.
