Bad Customer Service considering it is a 4-star hotel!

    Not 4 star

    rating18 Oct 2025

If this was advertised as a 3 star hotel, the review would have been a positive one as the things you expect for a 3 star were fine - comfy bed, nice and clean, good choice for continental breakfast and friendly staff. This is a 4 star though so your expectations are higher and these were not met:Small, thin hard towels in the bathroomNo coffee/tea making in room unless you asked for a kettle! You then had to collect the kettle as there are no staff to deliver itCooked breakfast had very limited choiceNo individual toiletries - all in 1 body wash/shampoo/conditioner - and this was a "no brand" and was poor.Bedroom had 3 small "steps" - into room, into bathroom and into the bedroom itself - if you had mobility issues this would be difficult. The location and distance to the main tourist areas of the old town was good but the nearby location was not somewhere we liked walking at night when returning to the hotel. The price we paid was ok for what we got - but 4 star raised your expectations!

    Did the Job

Oktoberfest visit. This hotel is located a 3 minute walk from the main railway station and about 15 minutes from the Oktoberfest site. Was very lucky to get an early check-in despite the hotel being so busy due to the event. Staff were pleasant and helpful throughout. The room itself was clean and the bed comfortable. Not the best TV and generally a tiny bit dated or, of course, it may reflect the style of the region. The shower area was however very good.Located in an area at night that you need to keep alert so just be aware. , Guest Services / Front Office at Alpen Hotel Munchen, responded to this review Thank you very much for your review! We’re happy to hear you enjoyed your Oktoberfest visit in our Hotel! We’re glad the room, bed, and shower met your expectations, and we appreciate your feedback regarding the TV and the room style – we always value suggestions on how we can improve. You’re right, being in the central station area has its lively moments at night, so it’s always good to stay alert. We’re glad you felt safe and hope it didn’t spoil your stay!It would be a pleasure to welcome you back on a future visit – hopefully for another enjoyable stay at Oktoberfest or another time in Munich.Warm regards,Your Alpen Hotel Team

    Friendly staff and tasteful decor.

    rating14 Dec 2024

Whilst not in the best of areas the hotel is very near the station and is central for all trips. The staff were wonderful and always friendly, helpful and happy. We were in Munich (our second visit) for the Christmas markets and being able to returm to a hot gluhwein drink on a cold night was a lovely touch with cosy tasteful decor to sit in. Bedrooms are simple, comfy and very clean. We loved the green approach they have such as having a free drink instead of having your room cleaned for a day. Breakfast choice was excellent and plentiful with both hot and cold food. If we return to Munich we would stay here again.

Not quite the height of luxury at the Alpen

    rating16 Nov 2024

The hotel is near the main train station, making it great for sightseeing and exploring Munich. It is, however, located on the less salubrious side of the station. The room key has a fob to allow guests to enter through the main doors when the reception is closed. The rooms are reasonably spacious, with a work desk and comfortable chairs but mine had a very small bathroom - shower, loo and mini wash basin. There was a larger sink in my room, which reminded me of student accommodation rather than a reasonably expensive hotel. There were plenty of plug sockets but no usb ports and the bedside tables were solid 'pedestals' i.e. no storage space. There was storage in the wardrobe with hanging space and shelving, though. (Maybe it's me? - l like drawer space!) , Gästeservice/Empfang at Alpen Hotel Munchen, responded to this review Dear Guest, Thank you for your honest review. We are really sorry that we were not able to fulfill your expectations on our hotel this time. We sincerely hope that occasionally you will give us another chance in future. With best regards from Munich. The entire Team of Alpen Hotel Munich
