Decent room, let down by poor service

    rating15 Mar 2026

Location good - interesting area, well connected to centre. Room was small but comfortable, well soundproofed - although the clear glass shower visible from the room takes some getting used to. Good breakfast, with friendly and helpful staff. But service is poor to non-existent, more appropriate to a backpackers' hostel than a hotel. No manned reception - automatic check-in. Rooms are serviced normally only alternate days, although daily on request (if they remember, in my case they didn't). And when service is carried out, it tends to be around 17.00, when guests are already returning from a day out. Questionable security - with no reception staff and no card needed to use the lift, easy for an intruder to gain access.

    Handy for exploring

    rating29 Jan 2026

"I will give you my finest hour. The one I spent watching you shower" So sang Blondie ("Picture this"). We'll come back to that.Flemmings is a smart modern hotel close enough to old town (50 mins walk, or a few Uban stops) to act as a base for exploring classic Munich. The rooms are clean and simply furnished to the point of being slightly austere. This isn't a criticism; rather an observation that the hotel tends more towards catering for business stopovers, as opposed to being a venue for a romantic weekend. As to the shower, this is a glass enclosure that protrudes into the room leaving no possibility for privacy. Fine if you're a solo traveller, or a regular gym-goer, but otherwise you might want to pass on those extra steins and delicious Bavarian dumplings.A couple of points the hotel might want to note: We asked to use the sauna out of normal hours and were told that would be OK and it would be made available, but when we arrived it was stone cold. Also, the amount of catering consumables (tea, coffee and some sort of milk substitute) were not particularly generous.

    Poorly trained staff, poor management

    rating20 Nov 2025

I stayed at this hotel during Oktoberfest and I have no complaints as to the room or the location. However, this hotel is severely mismanaged for a number of reasons.During my stay, two drunken men barged into my room in the middle of the night between Saturday and Sunday while I was sound asleep. One of the men aggressively claimed that I was in their room while I had in fact been in this room for several days. After pushing them back and telling them how mistaken they were, the two men left and I proceeded to the reception to understand how they were able to get into my room in the first place when my door was locked. I come to find out that the night manager had provided them with a key to my room after one of the two men claimed that he had lost his key. He did so without verifying credentials or the identity of who was checked into the room. In fact, the two guys were there and told me they weren't even at the right hotel! I was very upset and explained how this situation was unacceptable and a violation of my privacy and security. Unfortunately though, most of my complains fell on deaf ears as the employee did not speak English and I had to interact with him by using his phone to translate back and forth. I asked to speak with the manager and he told me through the phone that the manager does not work on Sundays and could only speak with them on Monday. Fine, I get it. Germany is mostly closed on Sundays.I followed up again via email to the hotel to explain what had happened and I've waited for over two months with no answer. I was hoping to resolve this situation in private. I'm generally not one to complain or hoping ill-will of a business as long as they acknowledge their mistake and commit to doing better. However, the fact that the hotel has not responded means that they in fact don't care. So, here I am hoping that this review makes some of you think twice about booking this hotel.I see two failures:1) It's in a touristic part of Munich. I would bet you that every hotel in the area has English-speaking staff available 24/7.2) They did not try to make it right. I spoke to three different staff members if you include the 1 email. No one offered to make it right. I did not get any sleep that night. I was on edge the rest of the day. I had an absolute minimum expectation: "We're sorry sir, it was our mistake. We will train our staff better and hope to regain your trust", from a representative of the hotel. At this point, it's too late and I hope this review negatively impacts their business.

Timo, a credit to the hotel.

    rating16 Nov 2025

Full credit to Timo in the bar! Would stay here again for the friendly warm welcome I received and you really are a credit to the hotel. Otherwise, room was good but the hallways are not very inviting and could do with a little TLC.Breakfast was good which I received free of charge due to a booking mix up which is great service. Overall good value and would stay again.
