Due to the high demand for hotels during the Christmas market season and resulting high prices, we picked this hotel even though it was below our regular standard. And yes, it was one of the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. When arriving at the reception, the receptionist hardly looked at us, busy doing other things and chatting with a colleague. When we finally got our room card, we found our room to be rather worn-down. The glass shower doors had not been properly cleaned for quite some time, all opaque because of hard water buildup. The double bed was simply two single beds put next to each other. The good things: located very close to the central station, with only a 15 minute walk to Marienplatz. And I have to mention the very nice and efficient Asian lady preparing our breakfast. She was also the only one wearing a hotel uniform and seemingly taking her job seriously.

Fantastic budget hotel in the prime location

    rating07 Apr 2025

This has to be one of the best hotels at a great price in Munich. This is a small hotel without any amenities but the rooms are fantastic and in a great location a few few minutes walk to the train station. The staff from reception were excellent and so friendly and accommodating to the tourist. I would definitely stay here again without hesitation.

Not "very good" but " adequately good"

    rating02 Feb 2025

Honestly, I'm struggling to give a "very good" rating but TripAdvisor doesn't have something slightly above "average" (i.e. "good") and the latter would be too harsh.Regardless, let's start with the pros:+ location: situated approx. 100m away from the train station, you hardly find a better place (at least for that budget). Moreover, it's also close to the theater and just a little outside the inner city ring. This has the unbeatable advantage that the restaurant prices are much lower. + friendly staff: Although the checkin was only at 3 PM, the receptionist granted us the room earlier since we had to redress for the theate+ nice breakfast: good coffee and plenty of choices 👌(see pics)And now to the cons:- location: how so? Well, the surrounding can be best described as little Istanbul and currently this is even made worse due the construction going all around it. - tacky room: we had quite a bad luck with our room. The bathroom window was towards the alley and the skin-deep blinds yield that you're basically shower in public. Furthermore, the interior had already significant bruises and it should be subject to renovations. The negative points dont justify the "very good" rate but obviously almost *every* guest is choosing this hotel for a cheap one-night stay and for that its perfectly adequate.

    Good choice close to Hbf

    rating07 Aug 2023

Rooms are huge by European standards. Beds large & comfortable.Great breakfast - lots of options & well worth the cost. Helvetia is within 500m of Hbf - very convenient, clean and reasonably quiet for a busy part of Munich.

    Decent hotel

    rating19 Aug 2022

Stayed there for a night and hotel was quite okay. Location was close to the Munich main station (5 minute walk). Staff of the hotel was friendly and can speak English. Rooms were of decent size (slightly smaller).
