  Perfect stay

  We were hugely surprised by this hotel and had a great stay. Room was really spacious, clean and had all the amenities we needed. Fresh cold filtered water was available on each floor - so much better than bottles of water. We were given access to the lounge which was a lovely perk and we enjoyed drinks and breakfast there. The location is brilliant close to some lovely beer gardens and you can access the hotel via the S-Bahn. We had a lovely warm welcome on arrival. Super impressed.   Disappointing in some respects

  This hotel is a standard Hilton in most respects. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed and the common areas are nicely designed and functional. We had two issues which have reduced my rating to 3/5.Firstly, and most importantly, the outside temperature during our stay was in the early 20s most of the time which was lovely however, when we returned to our room it was very hot. I measured it at 22 - 26 degrees and this is too hot for us to sleep comfortably. I asked the reception staff member if she could get someone to look at the conditioning after our first night without sleep and she told me that she would have a technician look into it for us. I heard nothing and we had another hot and sleepless night. The next morning i asked the same reception person what had happened and she said that it was cold outside so the air conditioning was not operating. I do not consider this reasonable for a hotel charging such high room rates (we paid between 350 and 590 euro per night). The hotel is advertised as having air conditioning and it does not. We were not even offered a fan which I think should have been the least they could have done. Similarly, some follow-up communication on the first day would have been useful and have met expectations more than silence and then a completely different explanation the second day when I followed up with no attempt to assist.The second, and less important, issue is that the hotel has 80 TV channels, of which about 10 are in English but, during our stay, between five and seven of those 10 channels did not work 95% of the time we tried - they were on the list but were blank when selected. This was the same on both TVs in our suite. After the issue with the temperature of the room had not resulted in any outcome I did not both bringing this up with reception staff.   We enjoyed our stay at the Hilton City Hotel in Munich, and would recommend it to anyone visiting the city.A special mention must go to Santiago on reception, who truly made our stay memorable.   Smart hotel, very good stay

  Just enjoyed a lovely 5-night stay at the Hilton Munich City. Very helpful staff everywhere in the hotel ... Reception, Restaurant, Executive Lounge, all good.We were told off on one afternoon, when the hostess on duty in the Exec Lounge told us that we were not permitted to bring food INTO the Lounge and consume it. Normally the concern is in taking food and drinks OUT OF the Lounge. She allowed us to finish our pastries, on the understanding that we didn't do it again, but perhaps the hotel could revert to the old system when Afternoon Tea was served in the Exec Lounge ... this would negate the need for people to bring their own snacks in!!!Other than this, the staff on duty in the Exec Lounge were all very friendly and helpful, and always quick to replace and replenish items ... the evening canapes were acceptable, if not necessarily inspiring, but the general ambience was good. The Lounge has a couple of small outdoor terraces, which is a nice bonus when the weather permits.Breakfast was comprehensive and varied, and although busy it never felt crowded. The coffee machine is perhaps the slowest I have encountered in recent years, but at least the coffee itself tasted good!The room was comfortable and cleaned daily to a high standard, and the in-room mini-fridge was the coldest I have used in ages! You just need to locate the little button inside the cupboard to turn the machine on, otherwise all you have is a box with a white interior!I would happily return to the Hilton if we revisit Munich, and have no hesitation in recommending it to others ... just don't try and eat your own cakes in the Lounge!!
