  Over $10,000 wrongful debit and refusal to refund.

  I was wrongly debited by the hotel and while I was partially refunded I am yet to get the remaining balance.After 3 years and multiple documented communications this outstanding refund issue remains unresolved.The amount in question is over $10,000 and Holiday Inn Express Munich City East are still delaying paying my balance.They asked me to supply a valid credit card as the one on file had expired, I did that and they have come up with another delay tactic. Responses are very slow and pretty much vague.One has to be careful dealing with this hotel !!   First time staying at this IHG holiday inn express location given the great location to the local metro, which is a quick ride to old town Munich. The hotel was spacious, quiet, and was exceptionally clean.The service and staff we had received was very professional, courteous, and helped address issues. Check in and check out was flawless. Our welcome drinks were a nice added touch. Breakfast was hot, fresh, and there's ample choices first thing in the morning. There is plenty of seating and it is spacious. The room we had gotten was spacious, comfortable, was clean, and we were able to get great rest, with no noise. The executive room plaque was a nice added touch. The hotel recognized my IHG status loyalty, which was a nice bonus.I will say the parking garage exit is very abhorrent. Our SUV could barely get out given how tight and narrow it is. Luckily we had no damage. It's pretty ridiculous how the hotel charges 20€ per night when you're paying to stay at the hotel anyways. There is also no parking spots set aside for premium members. Be careful if you park here.Overall, the stay, location, food, and service was very good, and we would stay here again given several factors. This Holiday Inn location also offers great pricing if you're traveling on a budget.

  A full service HI merged with a HI Express - with mixed results

  A former full service Holiday Inn in the same compound has been merged with the HI Express. As I arrived very late in the evening, it was a long walk through desolate and dark (energy saving?) halls and corridors, from the reception of HI Express. Being somewhat concerned whether I had walked the wrong way, then suddenly saw an elevator door. Untypical of the HI Express concept, this HI Express offers also full King Size rooms that used be part of the full service property.The breakfast space was not fully occupied at around 9 am on a Sunday morning, but the supply stations were small in size and congested. Public buses 190/191 provide a ten-minute connection to the Munich East railroad station. Due to the ongoing major renovation work, entering the station from the Friedenstrasse side can be challenging. If the elevator is out of order, customers have to climb up construction site style staircases to track 13 and then down to the connecting tunnel. According to local media, the construction would not be completed until in 2029.   We had a good experience at this hotel. The rooms are nice and comfortable; the hotel is also well-located near the station. The bathroom though very small had all the basic amenities. The breakfast was good and had a decent veriety but the staff was a bit slow mainly for refills, it definatly can improve if they pay more attenetion. The other thing to improve is daily house keeping which I was very suprised was not available, they do it after the second day. I feel that should change. The front office staff was nice and helpful so were the staff at the Bar. Overall a good stay
