    Comfortable stay

    rating13 May 2026

The Holiday Inn Munich West Park where we usually stay was fully booked, so we booked this hotel. The location is good, the nearest subway station Machtlfinger Straße is a few minutes walk from the hotel, from there it is 20 minutes by U3 to Marienplatz. The underground parking garage is from the 1970/80s and thus the space on the parking lots is narrow for the big cars of today, but as there were few guests using the garage (Euro 20 per day) it was easy to park the car even though half of the parking lots are sealed off due to required repairs. I had booked a quiet room with a bit more sqm, to reach the room on the 3rd floor I had to walk to the very end of the corridor, a long walk but worthwhile, the room was spacious and quiet except for Saturday night when I heard disco music from nearby. The shower was in a bathtub, might be difficult for short persons because of the difference in height between floor and upper part of bathtub. The room was equipped with heating (required during the stay), air-conditioner, flat-screen TV, tea/coffee facilities, desk and chairs, side tables with reading lamps, a sofa, and a private balcony that overlooks the garden. Bedding was comfortable, the room clean, the bathroom sufficiently spacious, equipped with shampoo, body and hand wash along with white soft hand and bath towels. The breakfast had varieties of cheese, sausages, salamis, fresh fruits, cereals, juices, tea and coffee, doughnut, pastries, waffles, yogurts, dry fruits, porridge, breads, rolls, egg preparations and a few other hot items. The lobby is not very large but there are several chairs and tables near the bar, and there is outside seating in the garden. The staff is friendly and supportive, one woman a bit oversized was exceptionally friendly and helpful, unfortunately I forgot her name.Nearby there is a DM and a Lidl, and in walking distance the restaurants of my liking are “Kueche im Kraftwerk” and “Gaststaette Freiland” After all the pros now the cons: Housekeeping forgot to replace water bottles in the fridge, one young waiter at the bar forgot my order, the bar code reader failed to recognize my parking ticket, floors in corridors and rooms are carpeted which I do not like but at least they were clean, the pretzels at breakfast were stale, and the narrow parking lots in the garage.

    Friendly staff

    rating24 Apr 2026

Stayed here for five nights for a visit to Munich and the surrounding area. Check-in was easy and quick, and the young girl at reception was polite, friendly, smiling, and efficient. Got food from the bar area where the guys were brilliant and chatty; the food was good as well. Breakfast was seemless and plenty of options all to a high standard. The staff at breakfast were frielndly and always busy with a nice smile om their faces. The room was perfect the only thing i would reccomemd is more clothes hangers. The room attendants done a fantastic job as well. So i would strongly reccimend this hotel. All staff are an asset to your hotel as well.

Pleasant stay in a peaceful neighborhood

    rating29 Jun 2025

This Holiday Inn lies in the Obersendling district of Munich, about 20 minutes to the Marienplatz Square from the Machtlfingerstraße Underground Station, which is 10 minutes away by walk from the hotel. We had booked a room for our family of three (including a teenager) using an online booking service wherein we had to bid for the hotel room in Munich, since all good hotels seemed to be fully occupied or highly priced for our travel dates. In a last minute effort of booking for 3 nights while we were in Germany, we were left with no choice but to go the bidding route not knowing which hotel (room) would be successfully reserved for our stay. After the booking was confirmed, we came to know that the room had been reserved in Holiday Inn. We were happy to get some decent accommodation in Munich without breaking the bank. When we arrived in Hauptbahnhof Munich by ICE train from Berlin, we looked at the transport options to reach the hotel from there and were pleased to discover that the hotel could be reached by the underground (metro) trains. We took some time to figure out the way to platforms and book tickets for the underground train. Once we reached the Machtlfingerstraße Underground Station after a change at Sendlinger Tor station, we had to walk about 10 minutes to the hotel.Once at the reception, we were greeted by a couple of ladies in the front desk. Our booking allowed accommodation for 3 adults but the breakfast was only for 2, so we made a request to include our son’s breakfast free of charge. It took them a while to discuss and conclude but fortunately for us, the request was accepted, and we were off to find the way to our room. The lobby itself is not very large but it is sufficiently spacious and the elevators are right in the center. We took the elevator to the first floor and then started our walk toward the room pulling our luggage ourselves. As it turned out, our room was located at the far end of the hotel wing so it seemed bit of a walk to start with. But once we entered the room, we realized that we were fortunate to be away from the main roads and accompanying noise, if any.The room features included air-conditioner, flat-screen TV, tea/coffee facilities, desk and a chair, side tables with reading lamps and a private balcony that overlooks the garden — ideal for enjoying the morning coffee or a quiet afternoon tea. The sofa bed was already set up in the room when we checked in, so it was convenient for us to settle down quickly. The double bed was big and comfortable and we usually had a good sleep. The room size was not too big but we were able to manage our large suitcases and other bags without posing a great challenge to the movement inside. The cupboard beside the bathroom was good enough to store a lot of our stuff for the 3 nights stay. The bathroom is of a decent size having a bath tub and modern fittings including a glass partition for a shower. No other toiletries are provided except for the necessities like shampoo, body wash and hand wash along with hand and bath towels. The restaurant in the hotel on the ground floor serves German and international food. The hall is of good size with comfortable furniture and pleasing décor. The breakfast was sumptuous with a lot of variety of cheese, sausages, salamis, fresh fruits, cereals, juices, tea and coffee, doughnut, pastries, waffles, yogurts, dry fruits, porridge, breads, rolls, egg preparations and a few other hot items. We enjoyed having breakfast there and meeting a server from our country and chatting with him for a few minutes elevated the experience, not to mention the service. The staff in the restaurant was courteous and helpful. On the day of the checkout, the breakfast service was moved below one level to a restaurant that wasn’t as comfortable. The hotel is located in a peaceful neighbourhood and puts you within 20 minutes of the heart of Munich and other famous sights such as Munich Olympic Stadium, Hofbrauhaus Munchen, and Nymphenburg Palace, are within easy reach of the hotel by the underground trains. Without the connectivity, the stay here would have been less desirable. Walking to and from the station added to the whole charm of staying in this wonderful city.I would recommend it highly to anyone traveling on business or leisure whether alone or with family to this magnificent city.

    Good hotel, poor location

    rating15 Nov 2024

The hotel itself is pretty good, the rooms are clean, comfortable and modern. I was slightly disappointed that at over €200 per night you don’t even get a bottle of water in the room though. Staff were all friendly and helpful and the food in the hotel was fine as well. The biggest draw back for this hotel is the location, about 15-20 minutes from the centre of the city and about 45 minutes from the airport which proved very expensive for taxis. Not a bad hotel, but certainly would be a last resort if nothing else was available closer to the centre/airport.
