A truly excellent place to stay in Central Munich and for the Staatsoper perfect!

    rating13 Mar 2026

This is a lovely small hotel right in the heart of Munich. For the Staatsoper it's the ideal location (maybe 3 minutes walk!) and not much further for Marienplatz ( maybe a slow 10 minutes). The management is friendly but discrete; the staff are extremely helpful and the breakfast excellent. There's also an Italian restaurant in the evening. This is not haute cuisine but it is good and useful indeed if you've had a tiring day.Rooms are extremely clean and bathrooms not too small.Strongly recommended!

The location is absolutely fantastic. Full city centre, few stęps from Maximilian strasse. Good quality/price. Adviced IF you are in the city for business or tourism. Good service at reception.

Worst hotel ever, please avoid this place at all costs!

    rating02 Oct 2025

First of all, the room was unbelievably tiny, barely enough space to move around. But that wasn’t even the worst part. After a long transatlantic flight from the U.S. to Munich, I checked in around 5 pm and went to bed at 8 pm completely exhausted. At 10 pm, another guest walked into my room, the same room I was already sleeping in! I had valuables in the room and nowhere secure to store them, so you can imagine how unsafe and shocking this was. When I called the front desk, the staff barely spoke English, and I had to wait until someone else came to explain. They told me my reservation “wasn’t in the system” and that the room was supposed to be reserved for someone else. I spent almost an hour going back and forth while they insisted I didn’t have a proper booking, despite my room being prepaid. At one point, they even tried to kick me out in favor of the other guest. No apology, no accountability, no professionalism. The room was tiny, the staff completely disorganized, and on top of that, no breakfast was even included. For the same price (or cheaper) I could have stayed at a reputable property like Hilton, Hyatt, or Marriott and avoided this nightmare.Unsafe, stressful, and not worth a cent. Avoid this hotel!

Efficient, comfortable hotel situated in the perfect location

    rating25 Sept 2025

We recently stayed at the Hotel an der Oper for our visit to Oktoberfest. The check in was smooth, and we were quite pleased with our room which was large for a big city. Some of the room appointments included a fully stocked pay refrigerator and snacks along with a basket of personal care amenities and wash cloths. The ample lounge area had a small couch and several chairs. There was a cozy Italian restaurant attached to the hotel. We ate there for breakfast several times. What impressed me was the ability to get a cappuccino made with alternative milk. We also tried the hotel laundry service which was reasonably priced and had quick turnaround. I didn’t see a gym facility or pool, however the convenience of being in walking distance of one block to the Marienplatz more than compensated. We used the reception extensively and they were friendly and spoke perfect English. I would stay at the hotel again. Tip: The hotel elevator is the typical two person size with room for small suitcases only.

    Mostly positive experience

    rating06 Sept 2025

Immaculate hotel with a great location and very pleasant breakfast experience. The room itself is average in size, but the bathroom is a bit small, though adequate in every way. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The biggest negative for us was the room position. The bar across the street had noisy patrons who woke us up every night. If you are not a heavy sleeper, do not take room 47. We tried to change rooms but no others were available. We would
