    Trip type: Solo travel

    Appalling, threatening and unapologetic treatment.

    rating07 Apr 2026

I am beyond appalled by my experience at this hotel and feel compelled to warn others, particularly solo travellers, about how poorly I was treated during my stay.As a lone female traveller in a foreign country, safety and professionalism are not optional extras; they are the absolute minimum expectation. Unfortunately, this hotel failed on both counts.Due to an internal error on their part, my valid payment was incorrectly categorised in their system. Despite the fact that I was able to clearly prove that payment had been made, the hotel chose to escalate the situation in an utterly unacceptable manner. Late at night, an older male employee came to my room and confronted me in a way that felt intimidating and threatening. Being challenged at my door under these circumstances was deeply distressing and completely inappropriate.Instead of feeling safe in my room, I spent the night anxious and shaken, forced to contact my bank to defend myself against a mistake that was entirely the hotel’s fault. No guest should ever be made to feel this way—let alone a solo traveller in an unfamiliar country. When I later contacted customer support, the response only compounded the issue. Rather than acknowledging the seriousness of what had happened, the hotel attempted to justify their actions and deflect responsibility. No meaningful apology, no accountability, and absolutely no compensation were offered. Most shockingly, they refused to refund the night that their error completely ruined.I explicitly raised concerns about guest safety and questioned how seriously they take the security of their travellers. This was dismissed. That alone speaks volumes. What makes this even more disappointing is that the parent group themselves acknowledged that the situation was completely unacceptable and recommended a refund. Despite this, the hotel has chosen to ignore that guidance, instead offering only vague assurances about “improving staff training.” That is nowhere near sufficient. This is not just poor customer service—it is a complete failure in duty of care.I am now in the process of reporting this incident to the Munich Tourist Board in the hope that no other guest has to endure such threatening, unwarranted, and entirely avoidable treatment.I will also be including screenshots of all communication to ensure full transparency and to prevent any attempt to misrepresent what happened.I expected far better from a global brand. Instead, I was left feeling unsafe, dismissed, and deeply let down.Avoid at all costs. ibis München City, at Ibis Muenchen City, responded to this review Dear Jaz L,Thank you again for your detailed feedback. We would like to clarify that we have already addressed this matter directly with you and have expressly apologised for the inconvenience caused. We regret that you perceived your stay as unpleasant. At the same time, we would like to point out that, from our perspective, your compensation requests are not proportionate to the actual circumstances of the incident. Dirty bathroom, airport gate atmosphere. The shower did not work very well and walls are very thin.

    rating09 Dec 2025

The lobby area has all the charm of a soulless airport gate waiting area. This place exists to house tired business folk travelling on the cheap and it makes little effort to disguise that fact. The shower in my room had little pressure and was not warm. The bathroom was tired and damaged, and certainly not clean.Walls are thin, I could hear people coughing behind my head most of the night. Breakfast was fine and the staff are friendly enough.

    A lot going for it.

    rating28 Oct 2025

Great location near railway station but far enough away to be safe and sound.Lots of great eateries and coffee shops nearby and just a few stops on the tram outside to the ice hockey, I f that's your thing. As for the hotel it's very predictable for the brand and that's no bad thing.Spotlessly clean.Lovely staff.Just wish there were tea and coffee facilities in rooms.Recommended.

CLOSE TO TRAIN STATION AND OKTOBERFEST

    rating16 Oct 2025

Located less than 10 minutes walk from the Hauptbahnhof and 30 mins walk from the Oktoberfest grounds. Bar downstairs serves beers, pizzas and other snacks. Handy location with many restaurants and takeaway food outlets close by. Also close to all the main tourist attractions in the city centre - we walked to everything, even the English Garden.

    Great stay and CLEAN!

    rating01 Oct 2025

We booked this hotel based on reviews about its cleanliness, and it absolutely delivered—it was spotless. The room was comfortable; yes, it was on the smaller side (same with the bathroom), but I knew that going in, and it wasn’t an issue at all. Our room was ready at check-in, located on the quiet side of the hotel, which made for a very restful stay. The location is fantastic—close to the train station in a neighborhood that felt very safe. The staff were welcoming and friendly, which added to the experience. The breakfast is definitely worth it: excellent food, and the staff restocked items right away whenever they ran low.I was especially relieved upon arrival to see how clean the room was—it really set the tone for a great stay. We were here for 7 nights during Oktoberfest, and I’d happily stay again. A great find!
