Very pleased to have stayed and gotten a room during a crazy Oktoberfest week

    rating04 Oct 2025

e stayed at the Leonardo Hotel Arabella during a very busy and hectic Oktoberfest, and it turned out to be one of our better Munich hotel experiences. For years, we’ve stayed at various Munich Marriott properties because of my spouse’s loyalty status. Unfortunately, those stays have become less and less enjoyable. The rooms are outdated, the food quality has really declined, and the staff often seem overworked and unhappy—likely due to the management style of the Munich chain. Since the pandemic, Marriott’s overall quality has noticeably slipped even further, and the ever-rising room rates only make it worse. When our travel plans changed unexpectedly, we needed a hotel at short notice. This time, my Marriott-devoted spouse refused to pay the sky-high rates and instead chose the Leonardo Hotel Arabella—a brand we hadn’t tried before. And I’m so glad we did! From the moment we arrived, the difference was clear. The staff were professional, friendly, and genuinely helpful—such a contrast to what we’ve grown used to at Marriott. Every interaction felt personal, and when we needed something, it was handled quickly and followed up on to make sure it was right. Our large room was clean, with updated bathrooms, and very comfortable, complete with a great in-room coffee maker. The breakfast was far better than what we’ve had at the Marriott hotels, with excellent food quality and a pleasant dining atmosphere mostly because of their cheerful engaging staff. The location is also fantastic—close to bus and U-Bahn lines, making it easy to get around even during Oktoberfest crowds.Overall, our stay at the Leonardo Hotel Arabella was a refreshing change from the city’s Marriotts. Great service, comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast, and staff who truly care about their guests. We’ll definitely stay here again the next time we’re in Munich—and I think I finally converted my Marriott loyalist spouse! Lower cost, better experience, and it feels like we have stayed here many times the way staff treat us - royally Hotel Leonardo Royal Munich, Owner at Leonardo Hotel Munich Arabellapark, responded to this review Dear SFjoe,Thanks for choosing the Leonardo Hotel Munich Arabellapark during the busy Oktoberfest season and for your generous feedback. Joke of a room

    rating28 Jul 2025

Absolute joke of a room. Arrived late and were upgraded to a ‘deluxe room’. Genuinely wished we hadn’t been. The room looked like it hasn’t been refurbished since the 1970s (see photos). I’ve stayed in many ‘Bavarian Style’ rooms in Munich, but they were all well maintained and had modern accessories like power points. Unlike this museum piece. Every single surface was scuffed, chipped or worn. Lights were all yellowed around the edges. There was one single power points, on an extension cord by the bed, serving the whole room. There was a kettle and coffee maker but no PowerPoint anywhere to be found nearby, so it was all for show, nothing was usable. There was some bizarre contraption at the bedside table, looked like a relic from the Cold War. The bathroom, by contrast, was like stepping into a different hotel. Modern, sleek, clean and with all the facilities you could need. Shame we couldn’t sleep in there. During our stay only one of the two tiny lifts were working, so there were always queues of people trying to get to and from their rooms and it always look ages. Other issues were raised with the front desk desk, and their actual words were ‘so, das ist Leben’, translated as ‘That’s life’. Hotel Leonardo Royal Munich, Owner at Leonardo Hotel Munich Arabellapark, responded to this review Dear John,First of all, we are very sorry that your stay at the Leonardo Hotel Munich Arabellapark did not meet your expectations. It is very important to us that our guests feel comfortable during their stay with us.We take your feedback regarding the room seriously. It is true that our hotel is already a few years old. However, we attach great importance to the upkeep and maintenance of our premises. It is true that some rooms still reflect the charm of those years, but we always strive to keep them in good condition. Of course, investments are also being made. The bathrooms were renovated last year and further renovation work in the rooms will follow shortly. Regarding the temporary malfunction of one of the elevators, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused during your stay. I would like to assure you that we take the points you raised very seriously and we are very sorry if the front office team's response did not reflect this. Thank you for your visit and your honest feedback. We hope to welcome you back in the future to show you the improvements we have made. With kind regards - Your Leonardo Hotel Team

    AVOID as wheelchair user

    rating26 Jul 2025

As a wheelchair user I booked this hotel. Despite their advertising, they are not wheelchair accessible at all. Starting with the lift, if not broken, not wide enough to get in with a standard wheelchair. The door to the room, again not wide enough to get into the room. I had to take the wheels off my chair to even stand a chance and rely on my partner to carry me into the room. AVOID if you can despite their email guarantee of being wheelchair accessible. Plenty of good hotels in Munich accessible. Staff couldn’t care less. Shame to come across something like that. Hotel Leonardo Royal Munich, Owner at Leonardo Hotel Munich Arabellapark, responded to this review Dear Tobi,We are sorry to hear that your stay at the Leonardo Hotel Munich Arabellapark was not satisfactory. Your experience does not reflect what we stand for, and we take your feedback seriously. Our goal is to create a comfortable and pleasant environment for all our guests, regardless of their personal needs. We regret that you had difficulty using our facilities with a wheelchair and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. In response to your inquiry, our colleagues replied that the elevators are generally suitable for wheelchairs, depending on their width. We take your feedback on all channels as an opportunity to improve our communication with guests and will provide the exact dimensions of the elevator and doors in future. We always strive to meet the needs of all our guests. It is therefore regrettable to hear that you felt our staff were indifferent to your situation. Our team is known for providing a high level of customer service and we regret that this was not the case in your experience. We sincerely apologize for your experience.Kind regards - Your Leonardo Hotel Team

    Excellent value

    rating26 Dec 2024

Great value. The hotel is spacious, lovely decor, excellent room and facilities. The breakfast was plentiful and of good variety and quality. We were greeted by Noskova who was efficient, helpful and extremely friendly, as were all the reception staff members. We were able to leave our luggage at the hotel while we visited the City. We used a day travel pass to get around - a taxi cost 33Euros one way. Bus stops are within walking distance. We would definitely recommend this hotel. Hotel Leonardo Royal Munich, Owner at Leonardo Hotel Munich Arabellapark, responded to this review Dear Cadgwith51,thank you for sharing your experiences with us. We apprecite your positve review about our performances very much and would be delighted to welcome you back again on your next trip to Munich.Best regards – Ulrike Bödcher/ Reputation Manager
