A beat up two star property claiming to be a four star.

    rating08 Sept 2025

The biggest problem with this place is the lack of air conditioning. In the middle of a European heat wave, that’s brutal. If you stay here in summer, demand a fan—you’ll desperately need it. We were lucky to arrive after the worst of the heat, but the experience would have been unbearable otherwise. The hotel’s so-called “key card system” was broken for our entire stay. Instead, we were given one old-fashioned key to share, which meant constantly leaving it at the front desk if we weren’t going out together. For a hotel that dares to display four stars under its name, this is laughable.Privacy and professionalism are not priorities here. A staff member once walked straight into our room without knocking to drop off a fan. If you stay here, lock your door at all times.Customer service is practically nonexistent. Unless you walk up to the desk, you’re ignored. Staff never greet guests, don’t even look up when you pass through the lobby, and often hang around smoking right outside the entrance. It’s not exactly the welcome anyone expects.Breakfast is overpriced and mediocre at best. Overcooked scrambled eggs, tasteless bread, and nothing served that justifies the cost. Save your money—go to the REWE supermarket down the street or a nearby café for something edible.Housekeeping is “keep it clean yourself”. Rooms are cleaned only once a week. Need towels or toilet paper? Go beg at the front desk for longer stays. Ours was 3 weeks. Plumbing issues went unresolved despite multiple complaints of the toilets running day and night. The toilets kept running, and when we lost hot water, the front desk staff were clueless. Their promise to “send technical staff” was laughable—those people seem to vanish more than they appear. This hotel is not, and has never been, a four-star property. At best, it’s a tired worn out two-star budget hotel with management that doesn’t care, staff who lack training, and service straight out of the 1990s. Honestly, the whole place feels like an East German hotel immediately after reunification. And that says it all.

not worth for a longer stay

it's a hotel with the worst maintenance or rather concept I have ever experienced. First I had an apartment with rather no daylight and a little lighting in general - better bring a torch with you. I could change, the apt had an even bigger size and big windows, so I had daylight but then...... almost no room lighting at night...... follow that one lamp if you want to read or whatever you want to do. Kitchenette is a laughter: dishwasher was taken out and not replaced, a wooden panel attached to the hole where it was. Don't get me wrong, it's an advertised appliance but just does not exist, at least in my apt. Fine, that there is a coffee machine and a water boiler. But no decent plugs to use? "ok, just use the plug at the writing desk" -........ I hardly could believe that I am in Munich, Germany.

We stayed in the Penthouse Suite (our final splurge on our trip). It is a 4 level suite when counting the rooftop terrace. Bottom floor (on 3rd floor of hotel) had a sofa, largest of the 3 flat screen TV's, dining table and lounge chair. Middle floor held the kitchenette with breakfast bar, living-room with TV and stereo system, large refrigerator in addition to the mini-fridge in the kitchenette and a WC. Top floor was the loft bedroom (which had a large comfortable bed, TV and stereo, ample storage, but lacked coat hooks) and the master bathroom (with Jacuzzi tub, shower and WC) a back door in the master bathroom takes you outside to another set of stairs that lead to the rooftop terrace.PROS - Very spacious living area ~1000sq ft., beautiful views of the city, high tech controls for the room (blinds, multi-level lighting, etc all controlled by remote), air conditioning, free minibar, microwave and oven/cook-top. Spiral staircase and floor to ceiling windows are fantastic. A pair of luxurious elevators run between the underground garage to the top floor. Nice breakfast though for 24.90 Euro/day, it should be. Very attractive hotel. All common areas are very well decorated and inviting. Nice underground parking garage. REWE grocery store right next door and gas station on the corner put all your necessities within easy reach.CONS - Sofas sit too low and show their age, floors are scuffed from previous guests, the bedroom carpet reminded me of what I had in my basement bedroom when I was a teenager and looked to be as old, minor damage to built-in furnishings from previous guests, shower temp. control is tricky and easy to scald yourself, toilet paper is rough, no source of cover (such as a table umbrella) on the terrace makes it uncomfortable in full sun or in rain. Minor ant infestation on rooftop terrace and sometimes in kitchenette. Laundry room requires you to install an app on your phone and pay electronically to operate washers and driers. You have to haul your own luggage. We stayed for 6 days, so we had plenty of time to make observations. In that time, we never once saw the hotel bar open. I asked about it on the first day and was told that it was closed because it was a holiday (that explained the first day). There is a laundromat just down the street from the hotel (which we discovered too late to use), but the hotel staff never mentioned it. Location of the hotel is decent. Quiet neighborhood close to the river, but a bit of a long walk to Munich City Center (~2 miles). A host of dining establishments are within a more reasonable walking distance of ~0.75 miles. Deutsches Museum is within walking distance as is Marienplatz and a few cathedrals and old cemeteries. Hotel Reception should be more familiar with the area and more forthcoming with tips and suggestions without having to be asked.

    This hotel needs renovation ASAP

    rating30 Sept 2024

My stay at this hotel was unfortunately quite disappointing. Although check-in is officially from 3 PM, I didn't receive my room key until 4:20 PM. The entire hotel feels outdated – the armchair in my room was so worn and dirty, I didn’t even want to sit on it. The bathroom also seems to be from decades ago, with seals in the shower missing, causing water to spray all over the floor. The power went out twice, and after that, I could only use one burner on the stove. To make matters worse, the kitchen flooded when the drainpipe under the sink broke, tripping the power again.Housekeeping comes only once a week, which is too infrequent. Even then, the cleaning is superficial – my desk wasn't wiped down at all. The curtains are old, torn, and even have visible burn holes from cigarettes. The ventilation system is extremely loud, though luckily, it can be turned off. However, turning it off results in a musty smell from the old carpet and furniture. Did I mention everything in the room is old? For example, the desk lamp didn’t work unless I plugged it directly into an outlet behind the desk because the switch was broken. The room was located at the end of the hallway, so I could only get Wi-Fi in one corner of the room. The kitchenette was dusty in every nook and cranny, which added to the overall lack of cleanliness. Although it was a single room, having only one set of cutlery seemed insufficient. On top of everything, my room faced the hotel’s back entrance, so I was woken up every day at 7 AM by the staff outside. On a positive note, the maintenance staff were incredibly friendly and efficient. Without them, I would’ve been left without power and wading through water from the broken sink. Their quick help was the highlight of my stay.
