  The City Hotel MAX Munich West, formerly the Vienna House hotel, was one of the worst experiences I’ve had in many years of travelling around Europe.As soon as we arrived, the hotel sign was covered. We entered and asked if we were at the Vienna House hotel, which we had booked through the Booking app. The receptionist immediately said no, that we were at the wrong hotel. I gave my reservation name, and he said there was no booking under my name. In the end, it turned out he was wrong and eventually found the reservation. However, this already gave us a first impression of how the rest of the stay would be.When we entered the room, I immediately noticed that the carpets were dirty and that there was no minibar or wardrobe. The air conditioning was also not working. In fact, the photos shown on Booking were not really consistent with reality. In other words, the room was a disappointment, but I still tried to overlook it.At night, I requested two extra pillows. The staff informed me that there were no pillows available.The next day, when I returned to the hotel, I noticed that the bed linen and towels had not been changed. The bed was completely unmade, the bathroom soap was empty and had not been replaced, and the trash bin in the room had not been emptied.I called reception to request soap, and they told me I would have to go downstairs to pick it up myself.I also asked reception for the bed linen to be changed. When I returned the next day, nothing had been done. So I went back to reception, and coincidentally the head of housekeeping was there. I spoke to him and requested proper cleaning of the room. To make things worse, I had killed a small cockroach in the bathroom and left it there to see if they would clean it. To my surprise, the insect remained in the room for another three days.In addition, I was charged the wrong number of breakfasts. I only had breakfast 8 times, but I was charged for 12.From what I understand, the hotel is undergoing a change of ownership. However, such a horrible experience is unacceptable in a city like Munich, with many other competitors. I will definitely return to Munich, but never to this hotel again. The staff are completely untrained and disorganized. The hotel has good infrastructure, but it is clear that the management is not making proper use of it.

  Vienna was nice with a good breakfast buffet

  This Vienna House wasn't as updated as the one in Berlin, however it was nice with a good breakfast buffet. They had free laundry facility, we couldn't get the machines to work. This was a movie theme hotel.

  No ice for us!

  The room was a good size. Bathroom was tiny. Asked for ice at front desk and bar but was told they had none. Lady at bar was very rude. She pointed to the liquor and insinuated if we buy a drink we get ice. After spending a lot on the rooms the least we could have gotten was ice. Instead we had to walk down the road to a Starbucks where the sweet lady gave us 2 cups of ice at no cost.   This is a great stay!

  This is in a very quiet section of the city - not much auto traffic. An easy walk to a subway or bus depot, but not close to the center of the city. The staff was friendly and very polite. The rooms are clean, very nice showers, lots of hot water. A great stay!   Bad and sad

  Bad and sad and we booked the best room, namely, the Junior Suite. The room does not look like in the picture. It’s extremely small. There is no sofa. There is no bathtub. The appliances are limited. We asked to be moved and they moved us to a room which had a bathtub but was even smaller. And cherry on the top, there was no water (no hot nor cold water for 3 entire days of our staying. Even after the complaints were made they did not do anything to address the issue other than just wait until we left saying that the hotel is fully booked and they can’t deal with all the requests. The breakfast is at very basic and definitely not worth the price, so it’s better to just go to the nearby bakeries. Unfortunately after the management change the quality and overall service of the Vienna House Hotel in Munich has gone down dramatically, to the point of making the entire stay uncomfortable.It’s safe to say that after 2 years of visiting this hotel, this was the end of the road. We won’t be coming again.
