Refurbished and smart rooms, free parking

    rating20 Sept 2021

Nice hotel, floor 2 was recently refurbished so the rooms were lovely, new bathrooms / carpets / paint and beds. Our room came with a nice sized balcony, however no fridge / minibar. Water pressure was good and the heating was manually controllable and powerful enough to really heat the room. The parking is free and the hotel about a 15 minute walk to town.

    Good location with onsite parking.

    rating04 Aug 2018

This hotel suited us well. We booked 2 rooms - one for us and another for our son and his fiancee. We chose the rooms on the fourth floor due to pricing and found that the one flight of stairs from the third floor to the fourth was no problem. The room was very clean and the view was lovely. The sloping ceiling on this floor could be a problem for a very tall person, or perhaps annoying if you were having an extended stay, but did not bother us for the one night. We mainly chose this hotel for the onsite parking, which others closer to the old town did not have. The walk to the stunning old town, and also the castle was very pleasant. Yes, we would recommend it.

    Disappointed

    rating26 May 2018

We stayed there for 1 night and fortunately that was it. The inner walls are made of plaster so we could everything that was happening in the other rooms, including the water plumbing. Mattress was way too soft for me and couldn't get much sleep on it, also because of the noise. We were on the 4th and last floor, however the elevator reaches only the 3rd floor and we had to continue by stairs with all the luggage. The ceiling is at an attic-style slope because of the roof, and for a tall guy like me it meant that I could access only 3/4 of the room at best.Breakfast was nice, however the fruits and vegetables were a long way from fresh. The only upside I found was the location, as it is a short walk from the old town center and it does have a view to the Altenburg as written in its name.

    Good for overnight stop

Lovely town with plenty to see. This hotel is a 15min walk from the centre (or a lot longer if you get lost on the way back!). We had a last minute room in the building across the road. This is also private housing and the kids were playing outside our window. This didn't bother us but was a bit unusual. I'm sure the main building is fine. Room was basic but fine for one night. good breakfast and friendly staff. Alexandra looked after us very well. Good value and would definitely stay here again.

    Family run quiet hotel

    rating03 Dec 2017

This is decent family run hotel that is 10mins walk from Altstadt or a few mins on a bus. Its nice and quiet and has the best breakfast feast ive ever had in 30 years of traveling around Germany. Griefenkels Brauerei is a couple of minutes up the hill for Bavarian beer and food
