Beautiful hotel in a great location. Giant rooms. Breakfast was generous with many traditional Franconian dishes, but the staff was clearly overwhelmed on weekend days and around 9am. Starting to show its age and some things were clearly getting rundown. Nice bar (stick to the beer and wine). They don't clean your room or refresh towels or anything of that sort unless you ask (didn't realize that for first few nights). Front desk staff was reasonably nice and helpful. Gym was poorly appointed but you're there to climb the hills and run along the river! We’ve only been at the Welcome Hotel Residenzschloss Bamberg for one night so far, but things don’t look good. We booked a suite and the room is pretty nice. No one serviced the room on our first full day. We left at 9 AM and returned at 4 PM. I went to the front desk and asked for service. Someone came up with fresh towels and went to leave. I asked about the dishes, empty wine bottle and trash. She took the dishes. No straightening the bed or anything. They provide bath robes that belong in the rag bag. We found a hair tie from a previous guest on the floor near the bed. Not sure we can handle our next two nights here. When you subsequently contacted our reception, fresh towels were brought to your room and the dishes were removed; however, a full room service should of course have been provided. We sincerely apologize for this.We also took your comments regarding the bathrobes and the hair tie left behind by a previous guest very seriously. Very pleased with this place. Massive. Clean, good parking great staff - a lovely old baroque hospital with a Chapel still in it. Quirky and quaint. Fabulous hotel in the center of Bamberg. The hotel has a lot of charm, beautiful decoration, high ceilings, friendly staff, underground parking and a splendid breakfast with high attention to detail. Just the coffee is subpar. Highly recommended over all. I would not hesitate to come back. Top tip is the nearby pub and restaurant the Pelikan. Hotel located in a former Hospital

Hotel is located near the Michaelsberg with extensive grounds. It was the former hospital with a grand main building and extensive wings . We were located in a far away corner room. There’s parking onsite for €20 (can come and go for 24 hours) . Room is spacious with plenty of facilities. Close to the main sights across the river. Rate included breakfast which was very extensive including sausages, salmon, cheese and even bubbly. Highly recommended.
