  Good location but bare bones hotel

  There are a few things that I feel are important to know about this hotel. There is no on-site parking. You need to drive through tight quarters to drop off luggage or haul the luggage through cobblestone streets. This is a bare bones hotel. There wasn't even bottled water in the room. Beds were hard and the pillows were even worse. To add to the challenges, there was a shelf directly above the bed that we both bumped our heads on. Towels are thread bare and the breakfast poor. That said, staff was friendly and the location offers easy access to the Christmas markets. I would recommend packing your own shampoo and conditioner. We were also given a physical key which posed some challenges as we all had to share the one key and we almost forgot to lock ourselves inside at night. Overall, we woke up with sore necks and backs. The furniture desperately needs to be updated.

  This is easily the worst hotel experience I have ever had, as someone who travels for work and pleasure on a regular basis. The hotel is very outdated, and we thought it was very strange that the hotel did not even have multiple keys for each room. We stayed one night and noticed the next morning that there were carpet beetles (!) in the room (the hotel should have removed its ugly old carpeting a long time ago). We showed this to management, who proceeded to behave in the most shockingly rude manner possible. The manager, who appeared to be completely unaware that I speak German, began to accuse us that we had "destroyed everything" in the room (we did nothing of the sort) because we had used the towels that were available. I pointed out that the hotel is so sloppy that there was DRIED BLOOD (!) on the sheets in the room that appeared to be months old, and the manager attempted to claim that it was my blood (can you believe this?). She gave us a discount but steadfastly insisted that the the carpet beetles were not actually carpet beetles but instead insects from outside (complete nonsense, we checked the insects with entomology collections online. AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS!

  Position is perfect to visit Rothenburg, brakfast is pretty ok, parking is not adjacent to the building but not far away. Friendly staff.

  Great hosts. Our frankly travelled from New Zealand to experience true German hospitality and they are such good hosts here, very welcoming.l. The hotel is true German style and right in the walls of the old town so in the heart of it all. Really nice walking around esp once the day trippers have gone. The family room is perfect for family with 2 kids, super large room with lots of space. We felt very welcomed..danke.
