    A Couple of Big Fails

    Stayed 2 nights in suite. Although close to the train station but given the Stuttgart21 big construction, not quite a straight walking path. Reception staff was backed up despite it’s after 1pm and with titanium elite, need to wait in lobby to check with Manager if room was available. As we had scheduled another appointment, approached the Concierge desk to leave our bags, without even listening, Concierge said no check ins. I responded saying not checking in but leave bag, again without listening, said see his colleague; clearly not going to help. Returning to seating area for another 10 min to wait for reception line to thin out, the Concierge had nothing to do and just stood at counter and talked to other staff. Must be union rules in action. Room was ready after all and went to bar for quick lunch as restaurant wasn’t open. Later at restaurant, service staff from Tunisia was extra friendly and nice, and so was the team at the bar. Average rating on the food. Added to this the reception staff also was friendly, put the Concierge behavior in stark contrast and a huge service failure not seen in 3 star motels. Room shower pressure was dribbling weak with water barely hot. Room cleanliness was good, WiFi was average. Insufficient power plugs. Adequate air conditioning. Location still would be the best feature for the hotel as rest wasn’t commensurate with an upscale Marriott brand.     Nice hotel within walking distance to the city center.

    Great hotel in a convenient location to the heart of the city. The staff were all helpful, friendly and courteous. The restaurant was excellent and the bar was quite busy and a great place to meet and converse with fellow travelers. Our Jr. Suite was spacious and in excellent condition. There is parking onsite. This property is a 10-15 walk to the city center.     My husband and I stayed at the Meridien for 5 nights between Christmas and New Year.Firstly, I must say that getting to the hotel from the train station was extremely arduous, especially lugging two large suitcase and two cabin bags up 3 or more flights of stairs, crossing a bridge and then down another flight to get to the Reception.When we finally arrived we were exhausted.Nevertheless, once we arrived, our stay was very comfortable in our Junior Suite and the staff were friendly and helpful.We arrived on Boxing Day (which Germans call Second Christmas Day)There was a special dinner in the restaurant but at 90 Euro per head, the price and the menu were way too fancy for our simple tastes, so we enjoyed room service spaghetti bolognaise instead.The breakfast offering was plentiful and served in a delightful setting. Particular mention must be made of the lady from Mauritius who was extremely attentive to our needs and clearly took pride in her work - so refreshing to see this sort of enthusiasm in the hospitality industry.The Junior Suite was very comfortable, with a separate dressing room, full length mirrors and a separate seating area.The bathroom was well appointed but travelling around Germany this year, it seems that one has to ask for particular amenities and that they are not standard.For example, we had plenty of mouth wash but no shower cap.Additionally, you may want to bring your own toiletries because the brand they have chosen to supply smells like household cleanser and we constantly found ourselves smelling like Ajax.So - if you bring your own toiletries and travel everywhere by taxi - you will really enjoy the Meridien.These small inconveniences did not detract from the quality of the stay at all.     Excellent Hotel

    We enjoyed our two night stay. The staff was very nice. The breakfast was great. The room was comfortable and clean There were some minor glitches. The safe in our room broke with our belongings in it. Maintenance had to use a hammer on it to get the safe open. When we left the ticket the front desk gave us did not open the gate for us to get our car out of the parking lot and I had to go back to the front desk for another ticket. Even with these problems, I felt the hotel still deserved a 5

    Nice hotel but think twice if traveling by train.

    This was a lovely hotel, with very comfortable room and a great breakfast. The biggest issue is that the Stuttgart train station is undergoing a major renovation and so it is challenging to get to this hotel from there unless you really know what you are doing. (we must have spent at least 30 -40 minutes going in circles as google maps did not have accurate data) Given that we were only there one night this made the trip a hassle. So, think twice before staying here if you are traveling by train.
