    Excellent Hotel

    rating17 May 2026

The location was perfect , it was walking distance to all the sites , Plaka and Monestaraki Sq. The room was clean and comfortable. The view from the balcony was onto the National gardens and Parliament building and the Olympic stadium. The staff was excellent and assisted us with all our needs. The breakfast buffet was so nice and there is a big variety to choose from. I can highly recommend this Hotel for your stay in Athens.

A faultless hotel - rare indeed!

The only thing I can offer is lavish praise for the Amalia Hotel the view from the 7th floor restaurant named Whispers is simply perfect. Access to the Plaka, the Acropolis and more is a short walk. Rooms are spotless and reception is genuinely interested and supportive. I will be back!

Convenient Location, Great Views, Plentiful Food, and Friendly Service

    rating28 Mar 2026

The location is very convenient, just a 2-minute walk to Syntagma Square (and the bus to the airport) and the Parliament. It is right across from the beautiful National Garden, which leads to the Olympic Stadium. Additionally, the Monastiraki and Psyrri districts, ideal for shopping, dinner, and nightlife, were also just a short walk away. Our room was comfortable and clean, which we appreciated. However, it was too hot. Even though the hotel staff tried to fix the issue, it did not work. Opening the window provided some relief, but the temperature still remained uncomfortable. Breakfast had a variety of Greek and Continental options. We enjoyed coffee in the restaurant on the top floor. Amazing views! Throughout our stay, the staff was friendly and helpful.

    Perfect Location

    rating13 Jan 2026

We stayed here as a family of 3 over New Years. We got a taxi from the airport (45 euros) and had no issues checking in. Staff on the front desk were extremely helpful and were able to find a local place for us to have a NYE meal at 60€ per head. Their own restaurant was fully booked. They also gave us 3 room keys which was so helpful as we were reliant on always being with someone. Our room was on the 1st floor with a balcony. The extra bed for our son hadn't been put up correctly and collapsed when he laid on it, but that took seconds to fix. Also he found the mattress far too thin so we layered a blanket and the dressing gowns under the mattress which helped. Furniture was a bit shabby and one of the chairs had been glued back together which made it very precarious to sit on. There were plenty of toiletries and the shower was good. The main beds were comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. After a day of travelling we just went up to the Whispers Restaurant for dinner which was incredible. Amazing views of Athens and excellent food. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We went back for a second meal a few nights later as we enjoyed it so much. The location of the hotel is perfect. Walking distance to everything and right next to Syntagma Square where all the NYE activities and fireworks were happening. We walked to the Acropolis the first morning and back up through all the back streets. The national garden opposite is beautiful and peaceful, just past that is the Olympic Stadium. Breakfast each morning was the same but such a variety of options. Some a bit strange for us, I don't normally have brownies for breakfast! The eggs were perfectly cooked, American bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, pastries, toast, spreads, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, cereal, traditional Greek breakfast items and deserts. All the staff, whether front desk, restaurant, bar, cleaning, were all very friendly and helpful. We would stay again if visiting Athens.

Perfectly Central with a Million-Dollar View.

    rating12 Nov 2025

Honestly, I didn't choose the Amalia Hotel; it was booked by the organization for an event I attended, and it ended up being a great choice, especially for the location! It's so central, right near one of the main squares (Syntagma), surrounded by great restaurants and shops. It's a fantastic area, and super convenient and safe to walk around in the evening too. The hotel handled our event's logistics and the big group of attendees really professionally, which was impressive. My room itself was clean and spacious enough. The absolute best part, though, is the terrace. Even if I didn't get to eat at the restaurant, I saw the rooftop and the view is unbelievable—a full 360° of Athens! You can see Lycabettus Hill, the Acropolis, and the Stadium. It makes for an amazing place for a drink. The one little thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the bathroom: the shower was in the tub, and it was a really small, narrow tub with a curtain, which was a bit awkward and didn't feel very modern. But honestly, for the unbeatable location, cleanliness, and that amazing view, it's definitely a solid 4-star pick, especially if you're traveling for business or want to be right in the city center.
