Location

    Acropolis view on a budget

    The location was within a 25 minute walk to Plaka and the Acropolis. Breakfast was included and consisted of scrambled and boiled eggs, breads, sausages, fruit, and cereals. The coffee was weak and occasionally hot. We booked a room with two beds, we're given a room with one and then switched to the 6th floor. We had an excellent Acropolis view, with a balcony.The walls are paper thin, you can hear the neighbour breathe, and smell the cigarette smoke all the time. Parking is a challenge. If cigarette smoke is a problem for you, probably don't stay here, or come to Athens at all!

    I booked this hotel in a rush. When then reading the reviews I was nervous about the area and how the staff would behave. There was nothing to be nervous about. The hotel is in a slightly rougher area and on a main road so quite noisy but apart from that, the location is ideal with it only being a short walk to the centre. I traveled alone but I appreciate I am not a woman and so if I were a woman and traveling alone in the area, it might make me nervous. As for the staff, they were perfectly fine - friendly when interacting with them. The hotel room itself was basic but fine - pushed two single beds together which wasn’t ideal but not awful - they were quite uncomfortable though. The room had an ok sized private bathroom and a balcony which was great. Breakfast wasn’t great - very basic offering. Overall it was ok - would be fine if staying for a couple of nights.

    I chose The Apollo because of its proximity to the sites I wanted to see. I walked to all these with ease. The staff are kind, friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. Special mention must go to receptionists Effie, who went above and beyond and to Costa, who gave great advice. Maria, the cleaner, kept my room spotless. This hotel is clean, the breakfast nourishing (even for a vegan like me), the rooms plain and secure, the beds comfortable, the bathroom sparkling and the shower hot. That's all I needed! The décor is drab and could do with an uplift but I would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly!

    RECEPTIONIST'S RUDENESS

    On the evening of October 25, 2025, we were relaxing and chatting in the hotel lobby. There were 6-7 of us from Turkey. Suddenly, the male receptionist started banging on the desk and computer, throwing things on the floor, and entering and exiting while muttering loudly. This was the first time I'd ever witnessed such behavior towards hotel guests. It was extremely rude and disturbing. We will never go to this hotel again.

    The Hotel is 3-Stars, so you could say you get what you’re paying. It’s not the worst, the shower and Air conditioning is quite old but it does the job. I’m not really fussy about where I stay when it’s for a very short period of time, we stayed there for 2 nights, it was cheap and we had breakfast included and it was central, so it was “Okay”My main reason why I rated it so low was due to the area it is in, it’s very scary and shady at night and it doesn’t seem safe at all, also it’s in a busy road and we saw multiple vehicles running over red lights and at times also grazing us by a bit.Would only recommend this place if you are maybe staying for 1 or 2 nights like us and don’t want to spend too much money on accommodation.
