    Avoid like the plague

    rating19 May 2026

We stayed two nights at this hotel. We. Two 65 year old men) were on a cycling holiday in Greece for three weeks and were using budget accommodation. I can say that this hotel ( I use the term lightly) was the worst we stayed in. On arrival at 23.00 hrs we went to the reception which is manned 24/7. The only plus point. We were asked to pay and having booked via booking.com we thought we had paid and went to check via the app. The receptionist launched into a meltdown. Shouting at us that we needed to pay. We tried to explain we were just checking the app but he continued his verbal antics. Having seen we had only reserved the room we paid. NOT A GREAT START!We got our room and on entering was met with a pungent smell. Not nice. The room bared no resemblance to the photos of the rooms on booking.com. Dated ( stuck in the 80’s) and dirty. The air conditioning unit casing was open and filthy. The electricity unit you would normally put a card into to activate the electricity to the room was stuffed with folded card. I removed one of the pillowcases and the pillow was heavily stained. The lights on the walls didn’t look like they came from this century. The switches were very dated and I question whether they would pass testing in any other country. Due to my the time of night was stayed and the next day looked elsewhere.Avoid this hotel like the plague. It was located in a very rundown area. The streetlights should have been red. We saw two women pass through the reception on their way out. They looked like they were going to work.

    True "budget" 1 star hotel

    rating09 May 2025

Yes this is a budget hotel and shows its age. First the good - 2 minute walk to Omonia station; market right next door, modern tv in the room, large sliding window that opens, €40 a night, the shower is nice and hot.Now the bad - no shower curtain so water floods everywhere; no room safe, ancient fridge, rough towels, room hasn't been redecorated since the time of Socrates, the staff smokes in the lobby (but they smoke everywhere in Greece). Now the okay - the area is fair - just pay attention (as you would in any city), the free Internet can be a bit spotty, the beds are okay if a bit hard.Would I stay here again? Probably not but it serves its purpose.

    The worst hotel ever

    rating04 Oct 2019

This is the worst hotel that I ever have stayed in, the only reason that it has such a high rating is that the reception staff were helpful and polite. There is nothing good that I can say about this hotel. The pictures on the website were from another hotel/apartment, no resemblance to this hotel. On the morning that we left there was some sort of a fight going on in the reception. My advice is to avoid.

NOT recommended for families. NOT recommended to anyone unless you are searching for drugs or for striptease bars nearby

    rating01 Sept 2019

I used booking.com to reserve this hotel room with 3 beds. I did a mistake: I did forget to check tripadvisor. This should not even being listed in the list of hotels from booking.com. It was a very bad experience and I am skeptical to use booking.com again for this bad experience.Anyway, I would say it was my fault not checking the ratings. Here are a list of bed things:- 100 mt from the hotel there are people using drugs during the afternoon- the room si dirty, specifically the walls- the room was smelling of smoke- the room view was on an external floor reachable by emergency stairs. Some cans and a shoe and a sock were there. Who slept there previously?- the window is reachable by this external floor. So not closing the window means someone can come in. - closing the window means you have not enough light and not enough air. Air conditional must be turn on on the summer heat- no curtains on the shower: water everywhere in the small bathroom- elevators without internal door: so dangerous and antique- stairs not regular and a lot to reach the second floor for example- TV is with cathode ray tube. Not even tried to switch it on- beds were not confortableGood things:- 20 minutes walking from turistic place (Agora, Acropoilis, Flee market)- some good modern places for breakfast- price was very cheap (probably too cheap and I did not realize that)I was with my two teenagers and they were horrified by the experience. We survived but the now hate not only that hotel but the entire city of Athens.NOT recommended for families. NOT recommended to anyone unless you are searching for drugs or for striptease bars nearby.

    Serious need of renovation!!

    rating02 Aug 2019

We booked our first night in Athens at Claridge Hotel. It is located at a centric area very near Omonia Square, walking distance from the tube and without any doubtñ this is the biggest advantage. However, the area is not the best to walk alone at night... The hotel itself was Disappointing!😞 It is quite old and needs a serious renovation. A serious concern was that rooms could not be locked from inside. The staff were friendly though but in general I would not recommend this hotel for families travelling with children...
