    Convenient but tired

    Stayed with the family for a few nights. Arrived in the pouring rain, which gave us a different view of the area, as even the drug users that frequent the vicinity can't shoot up in a monsoon. The city has a (much written about) drugs problem. However, it is still shocking and upsetting to see old, destitute vagabonds shoving syringes in their arms on the hotel doorstep. The hotel itself is very old and tired. Wallpaper falling off, threadbare carpet. They are trying to do bits and are changing all the mattresses throughout the hotel. It needs sorting much more than a good clean though. The lift is dangerous. It operates without closing the internal door so be careful with kids in there. It broke twice during our stay. The stairs are not a great option to the 4th floor with three children!Breakfast was very average. The coffee machine isn't great. Toast, cereal and a small selection of warm bits.The staff, despite the hotel's desperate need for investment, are really helpful and pleasant. They made us feel welcome and were very courteous. Would I go back to this hotel? No. Would I go back to Athens? Also no.

    Drug users on the doorstep

    Drug users sit outside this hotel day and night . It’s very intimidating indeed to have to walk past them. We watched them from our room snorting ! There is a security guard on the hotel door. The staff try hard to please and the breakfast is very good. The room furniture is ok but it feels like a 1* hotel . The place needs money spending on it urgently, the stair carpet is threadbare in places . The bathroom stank of ammonia for the whole week. Our taxi driver told us not to turn left out of our hotel as it’s a no go area! We booked with Easy Jet who didn’t want to know our plight and yes it was cheap and I would never return and it’s spoilt very much my image of Athens .

    Granted Hotel needs all over refurb

    The hotel needs full refurb! Building itself is lovely but very tired to say the least! The area does have many rough sleepers and drug takers but so does a lot of Athens! Lots of beggars everywhere! The hotel is lacking a Wifi signal making it not ideal! On a plus is 15min walk into main areas! The Acropolis is a must visit but a tough hike! Get a hop on bus! The Blue is €20 for 2 days and is every 20 mins. The staff in the hotel are super friendly probably needs to be as think a lot of traveler’s will not accept the hotels state!All in all was passable if you see past the obvious!

    Very disappointing experience. I tried multiple times to contact the hotel regarding my reservation through email and WhatsApp but never received any response. I also requested cancellation due to unexpected circumstances but the hotel refused and provided no assistance. Very poor customer service and communication.
