  Very loud and outdated rooms

  Very loud and hard to sleep at night. The entry way is beautiful and the location is great but the rooms are very outdated. There is no sound proofing and the noise level is extreme. It sounds like everyone talking is right in your room. We had one doorman who went above and beyond and was very friendly and helpful but other than that the staff was not overly friendly. When they say acropolis view, they mean you have to go on the balcony and look around the corner to see it. Don’t pay the extra money.   NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL!

  THIS IS NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL!After a 10 hour flight from the US, my 80 year old friend and I arrived exhausted to the hotel. It took an extraordinary long time to check us in (30-45 minutes). We had booked two upgraded rooms called Executive Rooms with Acropolis view. We went up to our rooms only to find that there was nothing “executive” about it and there was no view of the Acropolis unless you go out onto the tiny balcony and lean over and look to the left. The room was dirty and smelled like sewer gas.As soon as you go up the elevator to the rooms, you are hit with a musty smell, like a wet dog. The carpet in the hallways is old and dirty. The furniture is old and shabby. The beds are uncomfortable. Sheets and pillows are bad. Towels are like cardboard. There’s a floor drain in the bathroom that stinks and tiny flies were coming out.We spoke to the supervising manager on duty. He had the demeanor of a used car salesman and was very argumentative. He said that he had no authority to upgrade us to a suite and all he could do is offer us free breakfast. Then he offered a discount off the price of the suite. Then he continued to offer a deeper discount, all while saying he had no authority to offer us anything. After a very long and heated discussion, we agreed to pay an additional $500 for six nights in the suites and we would also receive free breakfast. While waiting for our rooms, I looked at reviews for this hotel and I was horrified to read multiple reports of bed bugs! The most recent report was 7 months ago. The supervising manager said that the problem was resolved 2 years ago. The general manager told me “all of Europe has bed bugs”! Once our suites were available, we were assigned one on the first floor and one on the second floor. I asked if there were any on a higher floor and I was told no. So after 3 hours of waiting, arguing and feeling like we were going to pass out, we went up to our suites and I immediately noticed water damage on the wall with mold forming. In addition to the sewer gas smell, old shabby furniture and no view. So I went back to the front desk and was immediately given a suite on the 5th floor. The next day, I was still very unhappy and could not sleep well. I spoke to the general manager who told me all he could do is comp our dinner. I told him that I didn’t want free food, I just wanted to leave this hotel! But they charged my credit card the full amount prior to our arrival and refused to allow us to cancel any of the six nights booked. Apparently they would rather have an unhappy customer than allow us to leave!I could not control my own room AC. I was told that I had to call the front desk to adjust it anytime I want to change it.The only reason I gave this hotel one star is for the rooftop restaurant which has a beautiful view of The Acropolis.   Lovely smell in reception area

  Two nights in this lovely hotel. Reception area is beautiful and smelt amazing. Our luggage was taken to our room for us. Check in was without any issueRoof top terrace is stunning with views of pantheon. The staff on the roof top terrace were hard work on both occasions we visited. I asked to be moved as they seared us in front of a speaker with no view - they did move us but unsure with so many empty seats why sat there originally Second night I went to pay at the bar after waiting for the bill.   The rooms were spacious and beds were great! Loved the balcony where we could see the Parthenon!! We looked forward to breakfast…it was great!! The rooftop dining experience was incredible! The views are stunning of the whole Acropolis. When leaving, Michael helped us get our cab and get our things organized and put in the van. He was a GREAT help!!!
