    Cigarette smell, mosquitos, but cleanish

    rating26 May 2024

Full of cigarette smoke, mosquitos and loud.We stayed at this hotel, because we were visiting friends who live nearby. The rooms were full of mosquitos every evening, the balcony door wouldn't close, the entire hotel stank of cigarette smoke. The electricity kept stopping in our room. The isolation against outside noises was nonexistent, it was loud all night long. The shower temperature kept jumping from cold to burning hot, making it uncomfortable when cold and impossible to shower when it jumped to hot. The room itself was clean, but had a broken lamp, and as mentioned the balcony door wasn't closing properly. Staff was really quite friendly. I m not picky, so we didn't make a fuss, but if you have another option, I would probably not recommend staying here.

    Pros and Cons

    rating13 May 2023

The hotel is located within reasonable proximity to the Viktoria Metro station (ten-minute walk) in a working-class neighborhood with many immigrant families. Restaurants are within a five-to-ten-minute walk as well and there are many little markets surrounding the hotel where we bought fruit and snacks. The staff in the hotel were amazing and did their best to accommodate us, especially Helena at the front desk who was exceptionally kind. The inexpensive basic room was adequate and came with a small high-def LG TV mounted on the wall. The WIFI was free, and the signal was reliable. A minor issue with a broken shower hose was addressed immediately. There was no shortage of hot water (you do need to let the hot water run for a couple of minutes in the evening to bleed the pipe). Clean towels every day and the beds were always made up for us when we arrived home. The one negative was that the mattresses in our room were hard as rock, but that may have just been our room. Overall, I would recommend the hotel to travelers. FYI: It cost us 36 Euros from the hotel to the airport.

One of the worst in Athens

    rating11 May 2022

If I could give this place a negative number I would. It is just terrible. How people gave this place nice reviews is beyond my understanding. If you want a place with broken bathroom door broken jacuzzi knobs then this is you spot. I’m sure after careful review you can appreciate

    Great value would return

    rating14 Apr 2022

Just had 9 nights at this lovely hotel. Value for money is amazing. It’s very clean and covid precautions taken. The shower is amazing so powerful. Towels and bedding changed regularly. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. It’s located 30 mins walk from Omonia Square or around 45 to Acropolis. Regular buses are easy if you prefer not to walk. We like to walk as the food here is so good. The shops on the way into town are interesting and seemed cheaper than the centre of town. Ignore previous reports of the surrounding area being full of un desirable people. Yes there are a lot of non Greek people around but they often have their children around and were all just living in the area. We found the hotel via a link on Matt Barrett’s website which has lots of great information on Greece.

    A welcoming, cheerful hotel

    rating13 Nov 2019

The lady at the reception desk was welcoming, cheerful and a delight to talk to making my wife and I feel at home right away. The room was warm, clean and comfortable with a balcony. Okay the balcony it looked over a side street, but it added an extra dimension to our stay. The bathroom was tiled throughout and was very, very clean. The shower was great using a mosaic tile with bench for the 'tray' - a wonderful experience. Access to the room was via a winding marble staircase or via a charming old fashioned lift - really nice. My stay at the Exis also took me to a part of Athens I had never seen before and so widened my knowledge of this fascinating city
