    Functional Airport Hotel

    rating03 May 2026

This is a functional airport hotel off the highway about 15 minutes away. Nothing in walking distance, though you do have some surrounding farmland and mountains in the distance if you look hard enough.Their shuttle service works well - once you find it. They provide general directions but what they don't tell you is that there are dozens and dozens minivans in the crowded chaotic lot, no special spot so I had to wander around and around until I noticed the small black van that says IHG and Holiday Inn on it if you look closely. Once I found it, transport was quick and comfortable, as it was again the next morning. The hotel itself is fine, just a little older and a cheesy weird theme in the rooms, not sure if it's supposed to be like a cruise ship or something. Bed and linens were comfy, no airplane or highway noise so overall a good place to sleep before or after a flight.Breakfast was not great by Greek standards, relatively small buffet and not enough fresh salads for my taste. Cooked food was minimal. Mine was included but if not I doubt I'd want to pay 15 euros for the breakfast.Ftont desk was professional and friendly enough, spoke good English. Anyway it served its purpose but the prices seem to be quite high some days so I wouldn't book it unless it is reasonable for your dates. Konstantina Tsonou, Ιδιοκτήτης at Holiday Inn Athens - Airport By IHG, responded to this review Dear Gil123u,Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback following your stay at Holiday Inn Athens - Attica Ave. Airport West.We are pleased to know that the hotel served its purpose for your travel needs, that you found the bed and linens comfortable, and that you appreciated the quietness of the room as well as the professionalism of our front desk team.We also appreciate your comments regarding the airport shuttle pick-up point. As the airport area can indeed be very busy, especially with many vans and buses operating at the same time, we understand that locating the shuttle can sometimes be challenging. While we are not permitted to have a dedicated branded stop inside the airport area, your comments are very helpful and we will continue working on making our directions as clear as possible for our guests.Thank you also for your remarks regarding breakfast and the room style. Guest feedback is important to us, as we continue to evaluate improvements and upgrades across the hotel. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again on a future trip through Athens.Kind Regards,Emmanouella MoussamaExperience and Communication Director

Not bad for 1 night; too far from center of Athens.

    rating30 Apr 2026

Not a bad hotel to stay in if you have a flight out of Athens the next day. The complimentary shuttle to and from the hotel and airport is a great addition. I think more people would stay here if a shuttle (that you have to pay a small amount for) would take you to central Athens. There is not a lot near the hotel and it is far from the main part of Athens. Taxis can get more expensive as it is so far from the main part. The rooms weren't bad, but just a bit outdated. It was a bit dark in the room as some of the lights weren't working. The shower was also very narrow and it was hard to shower. Not a bad room for 1 night, it does the job. Konstantina Tsonou, Ιδιοκτήτης at Holiday Inn Athens - Airport By IHG, responded to this review Dear Maansinator, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback and for choosing Holiday Inn Athens - Attica Ave. Airport West.We are pleased to know that you found the complimentary airport shuttle to be a valuable part of your stay and that the hotel worked well for an overnight stop before a flight. We also appreciate your balanced comments regarding the room and overall convenience for a short stay.At the same time, we thank you for your observations regarding the distance from the city centre, the room lighting, and the shower space. As an airport hotel, our location is designed primarily for easy airport access rather than central Athens, though we understand that this may be less convenient for guests wishing to spend more time in the city. Your comments about the room condition and maintenance are also valuable and will be noted for review. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again on a future stay.Kind Regards,Emmanouella MoussamaExperience and Communication Director

    Unsafe accessible bathroom.

    rating07 Apr 2026

We asked for an accessible room.We received room with two single beds. The bathroom was horrible, not clean and very slippery. Taking a shower in this bathroom was very dangerous for me.I skipped the shower because I was afraid to fall down and hurt myself. Please accept our sincere apologies, as cleanliness and guest safety are matters we take very seriously. Comfortable and quiet, but more frequent shuttles would be handy

    rating06 Apr 2026

Not the closest hotel to the airport, but the only option within walking distance is the Sofitel which is horrendously overpriced. There's a free shuttle that runs every hour and gets you there in about 15 minutes. In the off season it stops at around 11PM, but the rest of the year it runs 24 hours. One thing worth knowing: if there's a big group on the same shuttle, things can get a bit pushy (happened to me on arrival - 15 people would not fit in 8 seats!). Not the hotel's fault, but a heads up. Otherwise, a taxi is around €30.The rooms look a bit dated on first glance but everything is in very good working order and spotlessly clean. It was dead quiet, which is what you need for an airport hotel, and the bed and pillows were really comfortable. There's a pool and a gym, but nothing much else around the area as it's on a highway. The X93/X95 bus stop is about a 2 minute walk away and goes straight into the centre - much easier than heading back through the airport to get somewhere. Konstantina Tsonou, Ιδιοκτήτης at Holiday Inn Athens - Airport By IHG, responded to this review Dear Hellofish, Thank you very much for your detailed and thoughtful review and for choosing Holiday Inn Athens - Attica Ave. Airport West.We are pleased to know that you appreciated the comfort and quietness of the hotel, the cleanliness of the room, and the comfort of the bed and pillows. It is also great to hear that you found the nearby X93/X95 bus stop convenient for reaching the city centre. We also appreciate your comments regarding the shuttle frequency and capacity during busy times. While our shuttle operates on a scheduled hourly basis, we understand that more frequent service can be helpful, especially when larger groups are travelling at the same time. Your feedback is very valuable and has been noted carefully.Thank you once again for sharing your experience. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again on a future stay.Kind Regards,Emmanouella MoussamaExperience and Communication Director

Location and cleanliness good. Bed mattress very bad.

    rating01 Jan 2026

Location - about as close as one can get to the airport. It took 20 mins or so by hotel shuttle bus to get to the hotel. Note, on arrival at the airport you'll need a 1 euro coin or a credit card if you want a baggage cart, which is available next to the baggage carousel. To get to the shuttle bus, once entering the arrivals hall, turn right and walk to the end of the corridor until you see EXIT 5 on your left hand side. Go out at that door, turn right. Walk 150 meters. You'll soon see the boom gate indicating the exit from a car park. It is in that car park that the hotel shuttles park, waiting for passengers. Don't look for signs, there aren't any. Walk into the car park, that is past the boom gate and look to your left for a bus with HOLIDAY INN written on it. They leave once an hour.Cleanliness - the bus and the room were clean as was the bathroomRooms - Pleasant; good size; good selection of TV channels, tea and coffee making facilities, air con etcSleep quality - this was THE NEGATIVE in my stay. The mattress had no back support. I mean ZERO. I woke up several times with back aches. Lucky for me I travel with many medications and so I popped pain killers every few hours. I took a total of 7 such pain killing tablets. My room had 2 twin beds and both beds had bad mattresses. Clearly they should have been replaced some time ago.Staff - on arrival there were two women. One, professional but not what I would call friendly served me and the other seemed preoccupied attending to what looked like a personal matter. On departure there were two gentlemen at the front desk who were both friendly and professional.Breakfast - no complaints about the buffet.Value - I had one night in Athens coming from Australia en route to Larnaca and decided to stay near the airport. But at 153 euros in early December, I think the room was over priced. I am travelling again to Cyrus, via Athens, in February and see online the price is 120 euros. But hotels in town of the same standard are closer to 80 euros. In short, the hotel is a good option for those who need to be close to the airport (note the hotel shuttle took 20 mins to get to the hotel, so it's not exactly at the airport). If the beds are replaced and the price was much closer to 100 euros rather than 150 euros I am considering staying again this February. But that depends on whether the beds are replaced. After all, the poor state of the mattresses - I tried both beds in my room - gave me significant back pain not only while I tried to sleep, but it lasted for several hours after I checked out. Taking 7 strong pain killing tablets in less than half a day is much too high a price to pay in addition to 150 euros. Konstantina Tsonou, Ιδιοκτήτης at Holiday Inn Athens - Airport By IHG, responded to this review Dear JA From Sydney, Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review of your stay with us. We truly appreciate the balanced feedback and the opportunity it gives us to improve. We are pleased to read that you found the location convenient for airport access, and that cleanliness, room size, in-room amenities, and breakfast met your expectations. We are also glad that our team members at departure made a positive impression. At the same time, we are genuinely sorry to learn about your experience with the mattresses. Quality sleep is fundamental to a comfortable stay, and it is clear that we did not meet that expectation in your case. Your comments regarding the lack of support and the resulting discomfort are taken very seriously and have been shared with our management and maintenance teams for immediate review and action. We also regret that your arrival experience at the front desk did not feel as warm and welcoming as it should have been. Professionalism combined with genuine hospitality is something we continuously strive for, and your feedback helps us reinforce this with our team.Regarding pricing, we understand your comparison with city hotels and appreciate your candid remarks. Rates can vary depending on season, demand, and availability, but we do take guest perception of value very seriously and factor it into our ongoing evaluations. We are grateful that, despite the issues you encountered, you are considering staying with us again in February. We sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back under improved conditions and provide a far more comfortable and restful experience.Thank you once again for your honest feedback.Kind Regards,Emmanouella MoussamaExperience and Communication Director
