    They are liars! I booked a room with a balcony and it didn't even have a window!!

    Be careful when booking a hotel in Athens!!! We booked a room with a balcony overlooking the Acropolis at the "Carolina" hotel in the center of Athens. When we arrived at the place at dawn, they put us in a room that didn't even have a window. Booking is blaming the intermediary company, not the hotel Booking! Later I heard that similar things had happened to others in Athens.

    Wij hebben een standaard kamer geboekt welke aan de straatzijde liggen. (Wij hadden kamer 304)Buiten de ongezellige uitstraling en inderdaad wat schimmel in de badkamer zou ik deze kamers niet boeken, zeker als je in het weekend hier verblijft.Wij zijn zeker geen zeikers en geen luxe poezen maar de herrie van straat (veel verkeer) en zeker van de naastgelegen bar is verschikkelijk, we hebben de eerste nacht geen oog dicht gedaan.Dit gemeld aan de receptie de volgende ochtend en we konden, met €50 bijbetalen voor 2 nachten, een superior kamer krijgen aan de zijkant van het hotel.Deze kamer (405) was stukken mooier en zeker rustiger maar geluiden blijf je toch houden, het ligt immers midden in de stad.Vanuit deze kamer hadden we zicht op de Acropolis! (Zie foto)En juist dat is het grootste pluspunt van dit hotel, alles is op loopafstand.Het ontbijt in het hotel is niet erg uitgebreid, geen broodjes, koffie dan te sterk, dan te slap en het roerei was ijskoud maar als je genoegen neemt met een boterham (al dan niet geroosterd) en een paar mini croissants dan voldoet het wel.Aan het personeel zal het niet liggen, deze waren allen zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam!Al met al geen super negatieve ervaring gehad met dit hotel maar we zouden deze niet meer boeken.

    If you're looking to travel back in time, this very old hotel in Athens might do the trick; unfortunately, it felt like the last time it was cleaned or renovated was in Ancient Greece.The room I got looked nothing like the photos. Everything from the furniture, curtains, and bed frame were worn and stained, and the antique A/C unit could not keep up with the extreme 40 degree summer heat. To make matters worse, you need to leave your key at the front desk whenever you go out, which cuts the power to the room, turning it into an oven by the time you return.I also found bugs within the room and bathroom several times, and lastly the elevator is so old it was probably designed by Aristotle.I lasted half of my planned stay and checked out early to stay at another hotel. Save yourself the trouble and book literally anywhere else!

    5/5 really good hotel. Extremely clean and quiet. Felt like we were the only ones in there. Stayed 4 nights, in a small room to start with then upgraded later in the week, absolutely lovely huge executive room. Breakfast was basic but nice. Hotel very central, great location for everything and very friendly helpful staff.     If it was not for the street noise I would rate this hotel as a 5 * for its cleanliness and nice breakfast (except for the coffee quality), and best of all the friendliness of the staff (specially Anna).The location is great.Definitely will stay there again if the chance is there.
