City Hotel that needs renovation and better breakfast

    rating25 May 2026

The hotel is located quite convenient in the city center of Athens. The building looks quite new from outside but inside it it very old and needs some urgent renovation. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was really not good, small restaurant area for breakfast, just a small food selection and also the quality not very good. The suite we had was spacious but it was not modern. On the first evening there was no hot water. They closed the rooftop for renovation works but did not see any renovation done.I cannot recommend this hotel and we will not choose it again

    Very average hotel

Outside of the main tourist area, on a busy road with traffic noise through the night. Poor breakfast quality and breakfast seating area to small for the number of guests. Hotel Manager, Owner at Melia Athens, responded to this review Dear DJs_Holibobs,Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We regret to hear that our location in the heart of the city did not suit your preferences. We understand how important a peaceful environment is and offer rooms towards the back or higher floors for more tranquility on request and subject to availability. Your comments about our breakfast quality and the experience in the breakfast area during busy times are also appreciated, and we will continue to monitor these aspects to maintain a pleasant experience for all guests. We hope to offer you a more enjoyable stay in the future.Kind regards,Maria Berisa, Guest Experience Supervisor

The great and the not so....

    rating26 Apr 2026

I’ve just returned from a stay at the Melia, and here’s my take.Overall, I really enjoyed this hotel. The furnishings feel high-quality, the beds are very comfortable, and I especially loved the all-marble bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs. My room was on the first floor, and the service throughout my stay was impeccable. The immediate area around the hotel is fairly ordinary, but that changes quickly with a five-minute walk toward the Acropolis and you’re in a much more vibrant and scenic part of the city. There are also several nearby mini-markets, which is convenient for picking up water or snacks. My only real drawback was the noise. The hotel is located between two busy roads, and unfortunately the windows aren’t soundproof. Traffic noise was quite noticeable at night, and I ended up using earplugs to sleep.Aside from that, I would definitely recommend it. I had read mixed reviews about the breakfast, but I found it perfectly fine. However, I was a bit disappointed with dinner at the street-level restaurant. That’s it, have a great trip! Hotel Manager, Owner at Melia Athens, responded to this review Dear Mike,We appreciate you sharing your comments with us.We’re delighted you enjoyed the elegant furnishings and premium amenities in your room, particularly the marble bathroom designed for relaxation.Your kind remarks about our attentive service and convenient proximity to vibrant Athenian landmarks are greatly valued. We regret the disturbance caused by external noise. Although all our rooms are equipped with triple-glazed windows, our hotel is located in the very center of Athens, where traffic and city activity can occasionally still be noticeable. It’s wonderful to hear your breakfast selections met your expectations, offering a satisfying start to each day.We hope that you will return on a future occasion. All the best,Maria Berisa, Guest Experience Supervisor

Great Hotel with very helpful staff

    rating19 Apr 2026

We stayed at the Hotel on a short city break in March. The Hotel is lovely, views from the room not too great and the area it is situated in is not the best, graffiti everywhere which is very off putting but with that said, it's not the Hotels fault on what the street look like. Our room was on the 8th floor, very quiet and comfortable and perfectly clean. All the staff we met during our stay were very helpful and kind, I don't think I would visit Athens again because I got everything I wanted to do on this trip but I would stay here again.Thank you for a really nice stay. Hotel Manager, Owner at Melia Athens, responded to this review Dear TheNatster75,We appreciate your candid feedback.Thank you for highlighting our comfortable rooms and dedicated service during your stay.We acknowledge the neighborhood’s urban character while taking pride in offering tranquil accommodations.Your recognition of our team’s efforts and cleanliness standards is sincerely valued. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.Best regards,Maria Berisa, Guest Experience Supervisor
