The location is superb but that's about it. We arrived and it took us 1/2 hour to find someone to help us. Our room was ok but our friends' room was tiny and not well-appointed even though we were paying the same rate. The design of the rooms looked like no kind of architect had been involved: a) the mugs supplied did not fit under the spout of the coffee maker b) the top shelf of the kitchen was inaccessible without standing on a chair (I'm too old to stand on chairs) c) the table was installed so low that that only stools could fit underneath them and no other chairs were supplied. d) the bedside table was situated under a cupboard that was at the exact same distance from the wall so that you could not use the outlet or the light switches without getting out of bed and kneeling on the floor to get your hand inside. In Greece, one does not throw toilet paper into the toilet. The trash bin filled up with used toilet paper but the room was not cleaned on the first night (of three) nor were we given additional plastic bags nor were we told where we could throw the papers out if we were willing to use our own plastic bags. See pictures attahced.

Centrally located but Misrepresented Property

These are actual apartments in a building in Athens. The apartment was clean, centrally located but still quiet, with excellent WiFi. However: 1) the building had a coded entrance and there was no one to meet us when we arrived (at 10:30 am, after having been travelling since 2:00 am) from the airport. There is no reception area, and apparently no one is responsible for greeting visitors who are arriving in a foreign country after a tiring trip. 2) our room, advertised as a Deluxe studio, was little more than a glorified broom closet: it was absolutely tiny, with no place to put anything down, no place to set luggage, no chairs with backs (there were 2 stools), no closets, no separate bathroom (the toilet and shower were IN THE ROOM, set off only with a sliding door that only covered either one at a time), no reading lamps, a tiny fold-out shelf for a table, etc. 3) as anyone who travels in Greece knows, one is instructed not to throw any toilet paper into the toilet to be flushed; and yet the cleaning staff did not appear until the third day to clean the room or change the garbage. We of course did it ourselves. 4) perhaps worst of all, we were travelling with another couple, and their room was also described as a Deluxe studio – but they had a palace compared to us: a place for luggage, closets, a separate bathroom, chairs with backs, a table, etc., like a Deluxe studio should be. Both rooms were the SAME PRICE. How could this be? We never saw the landlord at all, and when I wrote to him about this, his response was “Thank you for bringing this to my attention.” My Athens Place received an incredible 9.2 rating in Booking – How can such a thing go unnoticed?I would never, ever, ever, recommend anyone to stay at My Athens Place.
