    Creepy Place

    rating26 May 2026

I checked in for one night only from April 26-27The second taxi from Athens airport dropped me off at Rio Hotel,I wanted to walk out. Unfortunately,I booked my room and paid on-line. The place looked shady shabby dirty. It smelled of musk and mold. I could feel the unsanitariness of the place at the veey moment I entered the lobby of the hotel. The old dirty creepy old man at the front desk was rude, vile for the first cuople of hours I was there. I asked him if he would charge my phone only enough I am abel to receive my call early morning from my taxi guy to pick me up 5AM for my ride to the airport, the mean creepy old man shouted st me to the point he frightened me. I stepped out for water,he would lock me out nit buzz me back in. I stepped out again to find a place to charge my phone. A very nice guy on the hotel's ground ,a convenient coffee water store was kind enough to charge my phone. As I sat by the hotel waiting for my phone to charge, store guy was nice enough to have me wait near his store. As I sat there,I saw drug addicts and junkies freely sitting by the hotel's front water fountain, completely stoned from drugs. Store guy told me to hide my jewelry on my neck and rings before they will pull them rught off my fingers and neck. My phone finally charged at 80%. The store guy for my own safety walked me 20 feet to my hotel and made sure I was at the front the door of the hotel. I motioned the creepy dirty front desk old man to buzz me in. He purposely would take his time to buzz me in. When he did, moment I stepped inside,he shouted st me loudly. In the morning I got stuck in the elevator. I asked him to please allow taxi driver who was waiting for me downstairs to help me with my heavy luggage,he vehemently would not allow taxi driver a flight up even. I literally was stuck between floors. I panicked and started crying shouted please anyone there, help me!!! A front desk woman came up to help me motioned me to be quite as i was crying. The hotel is literally a hotel strsight out of a horror movie!!!! The decor is very old. It stinks of mold and musk. Rooms are old and moldy unsanitary where I was unable to use their shower. Free breakfast? You'd have to be out of your mind to eat in that filthy he'll hole. In frint of the hotel by a very disgusting dirty water fountain i saw many water bugs. Roo Hotel should be completely shut down. It isn't safe for dogs let alone human beings. I will dispute the charges . I refuse to pay for filth and abuse by the creepiest dirty front desk man. Wster bugs and drug addicts randomly hanging out by the hotel???? Intimidated the few times I went out for water and charged my phone the fear the creepy old man locking me out is unexcatable!!!

Stay here if you want to ruin your vacation. Nightmare hotel.

    rating22 May 2026

Worst than 1 star hotel. Nightmare stay. Dilapidated, smelly and dirty rooms. No air conditioning.Leaking bath tub thus messy toilet. The sink was clogged. I don’t think they changed anything in this hotel since it was built. Breakfast included in our package however after trying breakfast on the first day, we did not dare have it again. Cold coffee, cold boiled egg, cheese and bread. disgusting. Hotel main door was locked at night and lobby and hallway lights turned off. Had to use flashlight from my phone to go to my room. The husband and wife running this aging building needs training in customer service. DO NOT STAY IN THIS NIGHTMARE HOTEL.

    A dreadful hotel

    rating18 May 2026

I don't understand how hotels, in this day and age, can be so dreadful; here's no excuse. This was possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I didn't book it; it was booked by an agent as I was attending a conference nearby. When I got to my room, the condition was awful. One of the beds had been made up with a hole in the sheet that was very obvious. Why put this on he bed? The bathroom basin had not been cleaned. There was a long black hair in the second bed (twin rooms, shunted together. No plug in he bath and the room had clearly not been decorated for years.I very nearly checked out, but I had been on two flights for most of the day and was exhausted. The electricity was controlled by a card in a slot; this kept tripping, plunging the room into darkness. The night manager kept telling me that this had never happened before and there are always fully booked, with a few choice F-words thrown in.Breakfast was awful! I really can't describe how bad; it would be better not to bother and allow guests to go to a nearby cafe. It's a shame, as the hotel is not that far from Monastiraki and it has the appearance of once having been an attractive place. However, if you are going to treat guests with such a lack of basic respect, cleanliness and a minimum standard of quality then just let someone else take over.
