Avoid this hotel at all costs

    rating24 May 2026

We booked the Royal Olympic months in advance for a bucket list trip to Athens Greece. When we arrived to check into our room, we noticed immediately that the entire hotel smelled musty, like years of old smoke, saturating the decades old drapes and carpet everywhere. Our room looked out over a noisy roadway, the bathroom was not clean, the bed pillows were inadequate, small and flat, for the size of the bed. When we went back to reception to see if there was anything they could do to help upgrade our accommodation, we were told they were full and to check back in the morning. We asked if they could give us extra pillows but none ever showed up. When we asked about the AC not working to help ventilate the room, we were told they would send a technician to fix it but no one ever checked back in with us. This hotel needs a serious upgrade to be even remotely in the same category of comfort cleanliness and service as other lower rated hotels.

    second time

    rating22 May 2026

A well located and good looking hotel ideal for a pre cruise stay - However, avoid the internal rooms without a window as they can be airless and hot - the windowed rooms are much better. Second time of visiting and would return again.

A lovely hotel with amazing views of the Acropolis

    rating22 May 2026

A lovely hotel with a spectacular views of the Acropolis and central to many places. We originally booked a room without a window but then paid to upgrade to one with. Showers in the room are quite small. We only had breakfast. The coffee was very good, food average. Service excellent. Staff were lovely. A shout out to George and Pete who went above and beyond.A nice pool area. Though unheated, I still enjoyed a daily swim the 3 days we were there.

    Promised much, delivered little

    rating22 May 2026

Past its best in every way. Advert shows a well maintained and good looking hotel. What you get is a tired and musty relic that matches the Athens attractions. We booked the expensive room that offered the Temple of Zeus view, but as they put us on a lower floor, we got trees and one of the busiest streets in Athens with noise to match. The big bed is just two pushed together. No duvet. Just sheets and blankets. The tv only had one channel that worked and even that was intermittent. Hair dryer in the bathroom was something from the 1950s. And the pipe was split making it next to useless. And watch out for the shower as it’s so slippery you have to be a balance champion. The only pleasant member of staff was one of the bar waiters. Even he was clearly overworked. The reception and others all came across as pretty rude and fed up to be there. A shame as the public rooms all look good. But they need to work on the bedrooms. In all, disappointing and not worth the high price tag.

    Disappointing rip off

    rating17 May 2026

This hotel is providing information on the website that is incorrect. We booked an executive room that states “all rooms have view of pool and garden area”. It also shows a rather plush spacious room. The room we were provided with (549) has neither of these. View in pictures.I spoke to reception twice and was advised not all executive rooms have these views and facilities. On the 2nd occasion I was offered a pool view room reluctantly. I did not take up offer as on day 3 of 4 day break.I also contacted hotel via email to advise of disappointment but have not had a reply.I hope as a result of this review they will update website and not rip off more customers who pay for something they do not get.Other observations Rooms are datedThere is one lift to breakfast on 7th floor that holds few people and is extremely slow.
