  A very enjoyable overnight stay.

  I booked an overnight stay prior to a cruise which unfortunately was cancelled by Celebrity the evening before departure. However, we decided to enjoy our overnight visit. I had booked the suite which was a spacious room if a little too utilitarian for us but we had lots of space, a nice balcony with good sea views. All the staff members we dealt with were excellent and very willing to help so full marks on that score. The hotel is located atop a steep hill from the marina so easy to walk down but more challenging on the return. However, once I realised for 5 Euros we could get a Uber taxi within minutes the problem was solved. The walk in shower in the room was excellent and there was an efficient fridge and safe. We visited the roof top bar and it was excellent both with the 2 free welcome drinks and later at night where very nice Pinot Grigio was a reasonable 7 Euros a glass. Breakfast in the same roof top area the following morning was excellent with delicious Greek Yogurt and honey and freshly cooked omelettes. There was plenty of choice on the menu so a great start to the day. There are plenty of restaurants/bars along the marina and it was bustling on a Sunday evening. If returning to Piraeus I would chooses the Alex again. It is rated Number 3 hotel in Piraeus on Tripadvisor and because the suite wasn’t available for the next two nights whilst we waited for our flights back to the UK we transferred to the Number 1 rated hotel which wasn’t a patch on the Alex Kastella. Well recommended if having to pick up a cruise ship and I felt we made a good choice despite the upheaval caused by Celebrity cruises!

  Beautiful seaside location but slow elevator and mediocre bathroom design

  I recently stayed for two nights at the Alex for the first segment of my round the world trip. The Alex is a good location for anyone who has done their homework on Plaka, is aware that Plaka is rundown and overcrowded, and prefers to rent a car so that they can stay away from Plaka in a relatively quiet suburban seaside location. The Alex has its own parking lot, which is important for visitors with their own vehicles or rental cars because parking is so hard to find in Athens. There is some traffic passing by during the day, including a public bus line, but I did not notice any traffic noise at night. However, after thinking about this carefully, I am rating this hotel as a four rather than a five. It looks like the main thing you're paying for at this price point is the hilltop view of the sea. This hotel is too small to have the kind of amenities that would normally justify its price point, such as a fitness center or swimming pool. The lobby is beautiful, though, as is the view from the restaurant on the top floor. The front desk staff speaks excellent English and were polite and helpful at all times.The Alex is housed in what was probably a 50s or 60s building which was renovated. Unfortunately, the renovation was not perfect. The elevator car is tiny and slow, and doesn't have automatic doors. There is a safety interlock so you will never open a door at the wrong time and fall into the elevator shaft, but having to manually open elevator doors gets old really fast.Another issue is that the bathroom is really small. The shower is one of those open kinds which doesn't have a door because the designer was apparently thinking that its clever design alone would keep all the water inside. That doesn't work, so the whole bathroom gets wet. Apart from these issues, if a seaside view and a parking space are more important to you than staying next to the Acropolis, then the Alex is a good choice.

  Awesomeness at its best

  No word to describe the personel and services provided by this hotel. Went there for 3 nights and from the first day of booking directly on their website, communication was brillant. Organization of pick up from airport to advices on visiting the city... everything was perfect. There was taxi strike, and the staff explained us how to book tickets and travel from metro.The view from the rooms are amazing and so is the cleanliness.The breakfast and dinner are worth it.The roof top restaurant at night provides for a splendid view.Too much to say... but in one word FABULOUS...Will definitely come back.

  Pre-Cruise Stay. Loved the Alex Monte❤️

  A fantastic hotel with a view in Pireus

  From Oct 1-4th I stayed at the Alex before I embarked at u cruiseship Pireus. The hotel is super only 38 rooms. The crew esp the ass.manager was very helpfull for me and she served me very friendly. The rooftop restaurant and terrace is super with a view over the Olympic stadion; Olympic marina and the sea. At the opposite site of the hotel stops the HOHO bus to the centre of Athens and on the corner stops the trolly to the centre of Pireus. 10 minutes drive to Pireus harbour with ferries and cruiseboats. My visit had a business view to. This hotel is super for businessmen and tourists. Th ebreakfast with seaview is fantastic; as lunches and diners. Rooms are not large but does have all you need.
