Location

The hotel is located in the historical centre of Athens, only 500 m away from the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. It is opposite the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Arch of Hadrian and 50 metres from the metro station. Countless shops and bars are located in the immediate vicinity.

Facility

99 rooms, including 98 double rooms, are located on 8 storeys and can be reached by lift. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. A fireplace creates a cosy atmosphere. There are a number of shops as well. Additional amenities include a TV room, a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Further services and facilities include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service, a childcare service, a car hire service, medical assistance, room service, an alarm call service, a laundry service and a coin-operated laundry. The business centre is on hand for guests' business requirements and provides a fax machine.

Rooms

Rooms are equipped with air conditioning and central heating. Guests can relax on the balcony or terrace. Rooms have a double bed or a queen-size bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. There is also an ironing set and a trouser press. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, an alarm clock and WiFi (no extra charge) ensure optimal comfort. Guests can take advantage of the nightly turndown service.     I will first say that the location is excellent. It is at the foot of the Acropolis and about a 15 minute walk. It is 1 of 2 blocks from the Hop on Hop Off City Sight Seeing tour buses. The room was very small with little storage space but not unusual for Europe. It didn’t have any chairs in the room which was very inconvenient. The rooftop restaurant had a great view of the Acropolis and the Temple of Zeus. Breakfast buffet was included and was good overall. We did have a problem with one of our carry ons. We arrived about 11 am with a 3 pm check in. They stored our luggage for us until we got back. When they delivered our luggage, one of our carry ons that was only about 2-3 years old (good quality) was broke where you lift the handle. It was working great when we got there. I talked to the manager and he said that the luggage was not mishandled, and the hotel had no fault in the breakage. He had some videos where they put it in the storage room which didn’t show any unnecessary toughness. He didn’t offer any retribution. I asked him if they had any luggage there that had been left. He offered me a large fiberglass suitcase, but it really didn’t meet our need. We decided to go out and buy one that would work for the remainder of our trip. Obviously the carry on could have just wore out at that time, but as I said earlier, it had only been used 3 or 4 times and it was not checked through an airline but maybe once. Would I recommend the hotel? Yes, due to location and staff.     Amazing Views Great Location

    We enjoyed our stay at the Athens Gate Hotel. Our balcony had a great view of the Acropolis and it was especially beautiful at night. The Roof top Bar and restaurant also had great views, good service and good drinks and food. Our room was recently updated and fresh. The location of the hotel is a plus with many bars, restaurants and shopping close by.     Fortunately, we only stayed one night at the end of our trip. The only nice thing to say about this place is that it was clean. Obviously, a good location, but room was tiny and stark with a great view of the roof next door. For half the price, you can stay a 20 minute walk away at the Grand Hyatt (where we stayed at the start of our trip) and get a very nice big room, a rooftop pool, a gym, and for a 10 euro more, a good breakfast.
