  I'm a fussy solo traveller, and this was an amazing budget place

  I stayed here for 11 nights after booking a fair few months ago. I did my research. I happily call myself a fussy solo budget traveller. I have to say that the place was perfect. Very clean, fridge, kettle, great pressure shower, hot water, clean towels and bedding every two days. All needed. I've stayed in more expensive places and never had my room checked daily or the quality of care. It's right on the beach front, loads of great restaurants and bars. I hired a scooter for nine days from Chris next door. Only €20 a day. It was the perfect base to see all of Corfu. The comments seem unfair. Maybe mine was a recently refurbished room, even so, they could not do enough, and I'll certainly be booking again when I return to Corfu. I suggest giving it a go and making your own minsd up. Fabulous place!!!

  What a wonderful place to stay, everyone is so friendly, we stayed in an apartment on the beach which is across the road from the hotel. Couldn’t ask for more, the taverna has a great atmosphere and really good food. Going to recommend this place to all my friends!!!

  Exactly what they discribe

  We booked a room with airbnb at Avra.It is exactly what they discribe.Its a simple room but has everything you need. Close to the beach, centre of Benitses and the busstop.The only negative thing we could say is that there is need to a little fix up, some shelving hong loose and the bin wasnt emptied daily.

  Stayed in the Avra hotel in 2017 for a week and was disappointed with my stay in the hotel, however, we had enjoyed the breakfasts in their taverna. This year, despite staying at a different hotel, we went back to have breakfast. When we first arrived, the staff member that greeted us was very rude, and barely spoke to us, like we were an inconvenience. When we ordered I asked for some fruit for my 22 month old daughter, I was told they only had banana so I ordered some, and she got about 4 little chopped circles. The high chair was filthy, the seat was grubby and the plastic on the tray was peeling off and there was dirt and old food stuck under it. The owner came down and sat at a table near us and proceeded to make a phone call, to who I’m presuming was a member of staff, and started shouting at him/her about jobs they hadn’t done around the hotel. Not what we wanted to listen to while having our breakfast. The atmosphere was frosty, and honestly we got out of there as fast as we could. I wouldn’t usually write a bad review but I think people should know before booking there.

  Great location, great hospitality, great food

  My husband and I have just returned from a week at the Avra Hotel. We booked a standard room which, as expected from our past experiences on the Greek Islands, was very very basic but clean and adequate for our needs. It had a fridge, kettle and air conditioning. It also had a small but pretty balcony. The owners, Ileas and Tanya were great. They really did make us feel like we were new friends rather than customers. Ileas has amazing knowledge of the Island and was happy to advise on places/things that might interest us. We ate at least once each day at the Avra Taverna, which is just opposite the hotel and on the beach. The view is spectacular and the food was of a very high standard at very reasonable prices. They serve a set price breakfast until 1pm each day (including a full English if you wish), lunch, snacks and evening meals. There are no limitations on what you can eat or when, they are happy to serve any menu items at any time of the day or evening. Vasilis, who worked in the Taverna was also great, always spending time to explain or recommend dishes. He also makes the best homemade lemonade ever!! If you want a slightly more modern room then the Comfort room category is for you. Slightly more expensive but given the prices are so low anyway, it is still cheap and great value for money. Overall, we had a fabulous time and we are already looking to re-book for September this year. Many thanks to Ileas, Tanya and their team for making our holiday so enjoyable!
