    Bad out weighs the good

    rating27 Sept 2025

We had a good holiday in gouvia but there are a number of issues with the hotel. The buffet both am/pm was poor quality and hot food was cold. There was an issue with a large group who ate all the breakfast food and this was not replenished despite there being and hour or more until the service finished. There were numerous power cuts, air con failed and the room was too small. On the plus side the cleaning was done every day. The pool was clean and pleasant. It was towards the end of September and there was a definite vibe that all the staff had enough!Would we return? No

    Avoid at all costs

    rating14 Sept 2025

Avoid this hotel at all costsWe couldn’t even stay the night. Within 2 minutes of entering the room, we were hit by an unbearable smell of human faeces — even the receptionist acknowledged it. The hotel couldn’t offer us another room, so we left immediately and requested a refund. Since then, both I and Booking.com have tried contacting the hotel multiple times, but they’ve ignored all emails and calls. Poor service, disgusting rooms (especially the bathrooms), and zero accountability. Stay well away.

    Lovely little hotel

    rating16 May 2025

Lovely little hotel a stones throw away from a pretty little pebble bay perfect for a refreshing dip. The staff were extremely helpful, polite and friendly at all times. The hotel is very quiet and peaceful with a lovely large pool and lots of sun beds, the whole hotel is kept clean and our rooms were refreshed daily with clean towels and bath mats, beds made and bins emptied. The rooms were of a good size for us as we only use them as a base for exploring, lots of storage, a hairdryer and tv. The aircon unit is noisy and old so could do with replacing, the downside being a dated and tiny bathroom with a very tiny window that did not open, so by the end of the week it was very damp and smelly. The water is mixed with salt water.Food was delicious, we are not fussy and like to try everything, no English tea so take your own if you like a morning cuppa.Gouvia is the perfect base to explore Corfu, the local shop and bar owners are super helpful and friendly.

    Gouvia hotel

    rating28 Sept 2024

Arrived before our room was ready, so we decided to have a drink. When the room was ready, they put us next to the swimming pool toilets, not a nice smell coming our way, this was not the room type we booked.Anyway, a room on the top floor facing the main building is not ideal when your knees are knackered. On enerting the room noted that there were cables poking through the ceiling, presumably waiting for new lights, then in the bedroom 2 thick cables randomly taped together. The bathroom shower was a waste of time and had a miss fitting tap, and the curtian was useless. More water went on the floor than down the drain. The bath had a shower and better, though the shower head could do with a clean.Draws on the wardrobe were held together with additional brackets. Then comes the breakfast. Arrived a spot on opening time on a few occasions. The hot food trays and food were COLD, and not appealing, presumed the heaters were not working. Fried eggs looked plastic, scrambled eggs more like a slab of not sure what it looked like, bacon cold. There are plenty of wasps around the open top jars of jam, marmalade, and honey. The fruit corner was ok.Didn't use the swimming pool, but the pool shower tray blue tiles were brown from rust. Reception wanted you to leave your key on the counter when going out, but not put behind in any pegion holes,so anyone could walk in and take one of the reception top.

    Gouvia Hotel

    rating03 Sept 2024

We stayed about 4 nights at the hotel. The room was very very small especially the bathroom but there was a balcony. Unfortunately the hotel overlooks a very busy street especially at night so it is quite noisy. You also have to pay extra for the air conditioner! There also seemed to be a problem with the water as the pressure was very low at around 6pm every night and on one night there was no water at all. On the upside, the hotel has a pool, is very close to lots of restaurants, the beach and the bus stop.
