  Fabulous stay - just too short

  Just returned from a short stay at Rivendell. Nic and Aglaia are great hosts. Apartments are clean and functional. The pool area is lovely, although the pool was still a bit cold in May. The central location of the apartments is great if you want to go out exploring Corfu. The food at the restaurant is lovely - especially Aglaia's family recipe Meatballs and the Feta and Olive pizza.

  Lovely, relaxing holiday. Nothing was too much trouble for you. Lovely food, although a little more selection would be nice. Loved the family atmosphere and animals. Even arranged cars for us and they were bought to the apartments the night we arrived. Thank you all.

  Noisy unless you like barking dogs

  The accommodation is as described but omits mentioning the annoying cons. I’ll start with these first. The owners have dogs living outside roaming freely around the area they start barking about 8 pm which continues incessantly until 1 am, mainly because they are many other dogs in neighbouring properties close to the apartments who are barking too. The noisy cacophony is so loud sleep becomes impossible until they stop. Even then you still hear the odd bark in the night. I ignored previous reviews stating this but it is true. No one in the reviews I read mentioned the ants crawling all round the kitchen area on the floor worktops and in the kitchen cupboards this is not acceptable. The kitchen area consists of a fridge , 2 ring electric hot plate toaster and kettle. We had 3 pans and an assortment of cutlery and crockery.This is 2 star accommodation it was clean but there mould in bathroom around the shower. The mirror was cracked in the bathroom. After 3 days the sink in the bathroom blocked and water would not drain away. The beds are very hard. It was cold at night in April there were a few blankets in the wardrobe and a small fan heater was provided but we were still cold. You can hear the noise of traffic from the main road nearby. Like the rest of Corfu you noticed that neatness and tidiness is not to be expected chemicals for the pool just left on a table nearby new hairdryers in the boxes left outside too.The electrical socket in the apartment was not connected to the wall properly so when you pulled the plug out the wires were exposed.The pros it was cheap the scenery around is pretty good central location to explore the rest of the island. You definitely need a car staying here there is parking but space would be tight if all the apartments were occupied. Pool looked inviting but it isn’t heated so we didn’t use bit too cold. Stayed 4 nights towels were changed once Shower gel, shampoo provided in tiny bottles and not replaced. Washing up liquid provided. I wouldn’t stay here again as I like a good nights sleep so I can enjoy days exploring the island. I can’t see the dog barking problem ever being solved as I noticed touring the island many properties have dogs living outside and barking.It was really annoying waking up to see the owners dog fast asleep and tired outside your apartment door when it had kept you awake for most of the night. It was so loud I had to put on my noise cancelling headphones until it stopped. The worst part of our Corfu holiday was the accommodation.

  idillyc atmosphere for a good gastronomial experience with very delicious food. Very nice pool are, kind and warm welcome from the owner, good vegetarian options too

  The best holiday I have ever had! Beautiful location with the best food from chef aglaia! The owner is amazing with the best sense of humor. Loved it and will come back!!
