perfect for a relaxed, quiet family getaway.

    rating03 Sept 2023

My family and I absolutely loved it at Aloni Suites. The apartments were lovely and clean, cleaned every day and had everything we needed. We arrived late at night and Vasia arranged to leave the key for us to get into our apartment. The staff were lovely and really helpful about how to get about on the buses, shops etc. Outside the complex is a bus stop which you can catch to two of the nearby beaches for1.60 euros. There are a few restaurants within 20 minutes walk of the complex. The one I would recommend the most is called “the meating ” where the food is absolutely amazing and the staff are lovely. There are two shops within 20 minutes walking distance heading back to Chania where you can buy all the essentials. The cafe/bar on the complex shuts at 9 o’clock. There is a free pool table and a gym which are always available to use. I would recommend taking the bus to Chania and exploring around the harbour, there are some gorgeous little back streets nearby with cafes covered with colourful flowering vines. We did this on our last day but could have easily spent a day there at least. I would definitely return to Aloni suites in the future! It really is excellent value for money! Hope to visit again. Thank you Kathrine and Vasia we loved meeting you xx

    Lovely set of apartments.

    rating26 Jun 2023

A lovely set of clean, tidy apartments. We had two bedrooms for two adults, so plenty of space. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent pools. Snacks and drinks available all day till 9 pm, I think.I'd say Ideal for small families or quiet adults who just want a relaxing break. Probably a bit busier in July /August. Beautiful sunsets over distant sea views from balconies. If you dont hire a car, be prepared for hot walks and waiting for busses in little shade, which we did and were expecting this, so were okay. Restaurants and supermarkets 15/20 min walk. Beaches around 30 min walk in either direction. We got the bus to Chania several times and on to Rethimno once. Both beautiful cities.*Last bus from Chania leaves at 8pm.

    Bed Bug Hell !!!!

    rating17 Sept 2022

A nice relaxing place (if you can bear the constant noise of the Cicadas) and very good / clean pool area but the apartment my family were staying in was sparsely decorated and too compact - my last trip to Greece was back in 1989 and I got the feeling little has changed technology / development wise in Crete since then. The Pool area has far too many Wasps and there is obviously an untreated nest nearby, I was stung at random on the hand whilst just walking past the pool. It feels like more of an airport stopover Hotel when travelling onwards to other destinations as opposed to a viable tourist destination and seriously needs some money spent on it.We stayed in apartment 10 (or was it 25?) which is the one closest to the pool with a ramp up to the patio area and next to the area where people eat under the shade. When travelling in large groups people sit here until 2am drinking booze they brought in the supermarket so you can't really sleep until they go back to their apartments.Upon arrival we quickly realised the place is in the middle of nowhere so had to spend £500 on a very small and beaten-up hire Car from a local Guy recommended by the Hotel for 9 days which had non-working central locking (so had to open each door from the inside), and the boot wouldn't open - a hire Car is ESSENTIAL here unless you enjoy walking 5 miles a day in 35-degree heat. The pool side Bar closes at 8.30pm at night and there is no entertainment apart from the TV in the main room of the apartment, Greek TV was surprisingly good and found every night at least one subtitled American film - but I would have preferred a bit of night life not confined to our room in close walkable proximity. The only other entertainment apart from a game of pool was watching the Dog that stole all the Guest shoes around the pool whilst they swam. The Games room has just two Pool tables but only enough Balls for one table and the tables are worn out, the Games room has no A/C so is a bit uncomfortable in there. The inside Swimming pool was empty of water and being used as a junk hoarding area, often found open and being very deep I considered this area an accident waiting to happen for people to crack their heads open.On the ramp from the (never open) reception to the pool side Bar I found an outside lighting terminal box with no cover on it and live electrics inside so keep your kids close if you're staying here.On waking up on the first morning I found a small spot of blood on my bed sheet, I didn't think it was anything to worry about as I presumed it was just a gnat or mozzie had bitten me.It kept happening though every morning and on day 8 I woke up and found a LOT of spots of blood, I pulled the pillow off my bed and found a few small bugs under them. A quick look on the internet confirmed my suspicion, to my horror we had BED BUGS in the rooms. My Wife went to talk to the Manageress about it in the Pool Bar, but they shockingly didn't move us from this apartment to another which I found disgusting. We had to stay in the Hotel for another 36 hours and on our final day (whilst having been kicked out of our apartment at midday awaiting our transfer to the Airport) we witnessed the Hotel staff removing all the beds and furniture and replacing with some new and some second hand.We did want to change Hotel but all the others in the area were full or too overpriced and miles and miles away, so we had no choice but to remain.I had been bitten around a hundred times by the bugs and my 11-year-old Son bitten around 50 times (My Wife and my older Son appear to have escaped unscathed in comparison with only two or three bites each) - we spent the next two weeks constantly scratching our (by now bleeding) wounds and I was also paranoid I could have contracted something nasty like Aids though blood transfer. We scoured the internet with our remaining 36 hours of our holiday coming up with a plan to prevent bringing the bed bugs back home with us - we knew they would be on clothes and suitcases etc.Once back at home we stripped down to our underwear before walking into our house (chucking my boxers out of the window into the garden) and jumped straight into the showers to wash off, we left the suitcases and the clothes we had been wearing outside all night. The next day we took the suitcases to the Launderette and boiled all our clothes to kill the bugs, this resulted in shrinking the majority of our clothes which no longer fit and had to be replaced. We took the now clean clothes home in bin liners and the suitcases were taken to the dump and things like electronics and passports were placed in the freezer for 48 hours - I am pleased to say through our great plan we did not get infested in our home, but I am now out of pocket by a considerable amount. The Hotels offer of compensation was 80 euros, this doesn't even cover the cost of one of the three suitcases I had to throw away. The staff were friendly, and I suspect this is an isolated incident as none of the other Guests seemed to suffer the same fate but having the last 36 hours of my annual holiday ruined / having to chuck away three suitcases and a lot of clothes (mostly designer T shirts) is not compensated by 80 euros. We are never going back to Greece again; this has ruined the appeal totally for us all.

Nice property with 2 swimming pool, car park, bar, barbecue and spacious villas with balcony

    rating28 Aug 2022

Nice property with 2 good swimming pools equipped with plenty of sun beds, barbecue, car park, bar next to the swimming pool. The rooms are spacious as well as the living room where you can find a Smart TV. The kitchen is equipped with all necessary kitchenware, fridge, microwave, toaster, oven and kettle. Balcony with a view. It's located close to local supermarket, different restaurant options and a lovely beach (Golden beach =famous Zorba' s beach) which is just 5 minutes by car. The communication with the hotel staff was very good and they promptly helped us when we needed something. Thanks for the nice stay!
