One of the big islands of Crete

One minutes' walk to the beach, on the main street of Agia Pelagia. When you stay for a full week, a toast and a cake of a breakfast becomes bland. Our bathroom plumbing had some problems, but on the whole it was o k.

    Second time at Irini/ Home

We love this bay having stayed 5 times in 7 years but this is the only accommodation we have chosen to return to. Perfect location in the centre of the village 1 minute from the beach! This place is ideal for us and beginning to feel like home having stayed as family group of 5 in 2 rooms and as couple. We booked direct with Leo this time and got a great B&B rate having OJ and cake, coffee and toastie as set breakfast although I paid for healthy breakfast one day as I love the honey here. He apartments are not 'mod-conned' but a/c, fridge and cooker in the kitchen, balcony off double bedroom plus twin room. Standard TV, safe and furniture with clean bathroom/ shower. There were insect plug ins in the room but we take our own as can be odd one in this resort (regardless of hotel). Leo and Kat can't do enough to make your stay enjoyable. Kay's meals at their bar Home are unbelievably tasty. I'll review both Home and the village in separately but she certainly has her delicious influence in Irini/ Home cafe. Leo is a 'fixer' anything you need just ask via email or once you are there. Finally the decor is great. You'll have to go to see it.

    Get me out of here

We were coming in late from Santorini and needed a room for the night before moving on to Hania. We found the Hotel Irini, looked at the nice lobby and thought this would be a good place. We were wrong. The only thing that worked in the room was the bed. The air con was broken, the door knob was broken (thank god, it at least locked), the shower handle was broken, no hot water, and to top it off, the toilet seat cover wouldn't stay up. There is absolutely no noise insulation, so you'll hear every conversation from the hallway and every car that goes by from the street. We should've turned around and walked right out, but we were so tired and all we needed was a bed for the night that we endured one bad night. The only saving grace for this hotel was that it was at least clean and the location is minutes walk to the port and bus station. There is also a building project next door which is no where close to completion, so you'll be awaken to the lovely sounds of construction early in the morning. Do yourself a favour and change your hotel if you've already made a reservation here.
