    Unpleasant staying at Jen Tanglin

    We booked 2 rooms for 5 nights prepaid in Jen tanglin and another 5 nights with free cancellation options in Jen getaway orchard. Due our flight delay we checked in a day later. we prepaid for 5 nights and stayed at hotel for 4 nights(we informed the hotel in advance of our flight delay).We booked for 2 quiet rooms (since our 13 hours long flight)preferably with connecting doors, swimming pool views and high floor. When we checked in we got rooms without connecting doors but was next to each other located lower floor, half looking at the road and half looking at the roof of the backside of Tanglin mall. We discussed with the check in desk and He told me due to the high amount of bookings it was even difficult to find two rooms next to each other. However after the discussion we could move to a slightly higher floor with side swimming pool views for our last 3 nights. We didn't sleep well due the ongoing clicking sounds and people talking noise. we realised that our rooms were opposite of the hotel service area. The rooms are small and the bathroom even very small that fits only one person at the time. We prepaid the rooms otherwise we would have checked out immediately. We cancelled our second booking for Jen orchard getaway after our experience with Jen tanglin.We are very much disappointed with our experience with Jen Tanglin as a shangri-la member.     Jen Tanglin1. Situation awarenessGuests who move from hotel to hotel often get disorientated after getting out the the lift. I like the (insert image) on each floor. Replicate on the lift area to make it easy.2. Room serviceExcellent. Love the robot3. ClubBrilliant. Please thank Alex and Yun.Reference point 3 - more spirits in the lounge - I noted last night that they had gin, vodka and whiskey, but I would appreciate a rum option and I'm pretty sure they haven't been there the whole time4. ReceptionPromote Daniella when she gets back from Bangkok5. BreakfastYeah it's free but.....It is excellent. Staff are clever. Chefs do the best scrambled eggs weekdays. Sunday, not so much.     Glasses stolen in the room

    This is based on the experience when my sun glasses were stolen in the room and the management not wanting to take responsibility. Below my reason for this reviewOn Wednesday the 18th of March we went to the pool area, while we were there , there was an alarm for the lightning we were told to leave the pool area. When I was at the pool i had my sunglasses with me but the case for the glasses were left in the room in my suitcase. We went back to the room and found the cleaner still cleaning, we dropped everything we had in the pool in the room then left and to wait next to the reception until the cleaner finished with the cleaning.My friend asked one of the gentlemen there by the reception to go check if the room was done, he came back and said it was done with cleaning. We then went back to the room until the following day. On Thursday , I looked for my sunglasses in the room but I could not find them, I then thought I left them at the pool area on Wednesday as we had to leave the pool. We went again to the pool on Thursday . I reported to the guards of my missing glasses, they said they will look for them. They came back and told me that they did not find them, I also reported at the reception on the very same Thursday.On Friday I asked for the manager and reported the incident to him and they also looked , came to the room taking the picture of the bag I had with me on Wednesday, took the picture of the glasses from the picture I took while i was at the pool , etc. They also came back and said they did not find them. I then thought someone might got hold of them and took them. Friday night as I was packing my suitcase i took everything out of the suitcases to sort out my clothes, to my surprise the case for the glasses was not in the suitcase, All along I was thinking that the glasses might have been left or i drop them on my way from the pool area may be someone got them, so with the case not being in the suitcase then everything changed, it means the glasses and the case were stolen from the room.We left early on Saturday could not speak to the manager. I wrote this email to the manager they are not taking accountability for my stolen glasses in their hotel.     Visited Jen Kitchen recently and unfortunately had a poor experience. There were no staff around for at least 15–20 minutes, despite a bell placed at the counter, which didn’t seem to make any difference when used.I don’t mind paying $7.20 for a cappuccino plus a 10% service charge, but service should actually be present.     Get the local Laksa for breakfast

    The location in the heart of Orchard Road is unbeatable. They are conveniently located near the botanic gardens as well as the malls. The room with the pool view was heavenly, and the breakfast buffet sumptuous. The server recommended that I get freshly cooked Singaporean Laksa for breakfast from the hot station, and I was hooked. I had it every morning that I was there.
