Great for pre- or post-flight stay
04 Oct 2025
Well, we wouldn't want to stay here as a family for our whole holiday because the location is very close to the airport and a road with quite a traffic volume (both causing a higher noise level), the bathroom was rather small (we stayed at suite 108) and the beds weren't the most comfortable. BUT: considering the good value for money (you can't expect 5 star luxury for less than 100 EUR a night), the proximity to the airport to catch a flight, the free parking, the excellent restaurant, etc. it is still a recommendation for the night after arrivel or the one before departure...

Great Experience In Crete at Anemos Suites
21 Oct 2024
The hotel is nicely situated near the bus stop and about a pitching edge away from the beach. We met this gentleman Krisos (hoping that I didn't butcher his name). He is the nicest person we met in Crete and very helpful at the hotel. He is not only the waiter, buss boy, he is also the handy man and good entertainer. The room was very clean and the food at the restaurant was great!

The hotel itself was fine. I built a positive rapport with the hotel owner. On the last day of my trip, Michalis asked if I could drop his employee off at the airport, as I was going there anyway. I agreed. At 11pm, Michalis left, and the employee asked if we could walk to the mini market before heading out. He tricked me and walked us towards the pitch black beach, away from the street and market. He grabbed my wrist tightly and dragged me. With my free hand, I pointed at my phone map. He yelled, “no, stop! Put your phone away!” panickedly. He dragged me to an edge where the sand dropped down steeply towards the shore. I yanked my arm from his grip and screamed at him to leave me alone. He followed me to the parking lot and still asked for a ride.Michalis never followed up with me or asked if I was okay, despite me telling him his employee tried to kidnap me to a dark area.DO NOT recommend for single women, he doesn’t care for women’s safety.

Plumbing issues and arguments - avoid!!!
16 Oct 2023
We chose Anemos Suites as we were looking for somewhere self-catering at the end of a month in various parts of Greece. We stayed in "suite" 302 titled "Sea Horse". The room was quite spacious but there were very limited kitchen supplies. Only 3 of everything supplied (bowls, glasses etc), one burner that you plug in, kettle, sandwich toaster, one saucepan, milk pan, frypan, no microwave. We never made any meals or even a cup of tea here! They had a restaurant on site and the meal the night we arrived was tasty enough, but my husband got food poisoning from the club sandwich that night. A better dining alternative is down the end of the lane near the beach at the News Seaside Bar Restaurant where I had the best club sandwich and chips in Greece! On the second day (our first morning there, and my birthday) I attempted to have a shower but the water was cold. My husband then realised the bathroom was flooding not in the shower cubicle but bubbling up in the middle of the bathroom behind me where I hadn’t noticed. By the time he warned me and I turned it off, it was flooding out into the living area. We managed to move my suitcase just in time. We reported it but there was no-one around that morning that spoke much English. They understood enough to send the cleaner over to mop up the water and she somehow fixed the blockage, however the water was still cold so we couldn’t shower. We tried to communicate with the staff about when the hot water would be fixed but were instead handed a breakfast menu. When we asked to see the manager we were told only "later". After wasting a couple of hours that morning trying to resolve things (including calling our travel agent who also contacted the manager) we ended up having a sponge wash and went out to start our day. By the time we left (around 11am) someone who spoke English had arrived and he was able to tell me that a plumber would be there later that afternoon. He also gave us directions to find a doctor as my husband had developed an infection in his leg and needed antibiotics. So he at least was helpful. After returning late afternoon, I asked if we could have a replacement bathmat and hand towel as they were still soaking wet from the flooding. The elderly Greek owners started arguing with each other in Greek and then the woman argued with me saying “tomorrow” as in they were only due to replace the towels tomorrow. I think she also wanted payment for changing them earlier. I tried to explain about our room flooding but she couldn’t understand. I said they should be compensating us with a free breakfast or drinks not arguing about replacing a couple of towels, and said we would give them a bad review. There was a worker there who spoke good English (we had interacted with him the evening before) but instead of interpreting what we were saying he just went and sat at the check in desk and didn’t want to get involved. I gave up and 5 minutes later the elderly Greek lady came to our room with two towels apologising, so I guess he explained to her after I left. But she still seemed to blame us for the flooding saying we shouldn’t put paper in the toilet (in Greece you have to put toilet paper in a bin which we well knew at the end of a month there) or wash sand down the drain (so where are you meant to wash if you visit the beach?!!!). As we had only arrived the night before it certainly wasn’t us that blocked the drains. We never did receive any apology or compensation about the flooding and not being able to have a shower that morning. When they did replace all of the towels the next day, they were a bit musty smelling. The bathroom was also not very clean when we arrived, with the wall tiles being smeared, mould on the grout (I initially thought it was black grout then realised it was mould!), and the floor of the shower felt sandy before we had even used it, so there were obvious cleaning and plumbing issues before we arrived. Even after the plumber had been the shower was still draining very slowly, so I can imagine further plumbing issues in the future. Unfortunately we didn't take any photos of the flood!

Anemos Suites by Estia

Our flight has been delayed for 3 hours and there was no problem to check-in in the middle of the night. There was everything we needed in the room: forks, knives,.spoons, plates etc. There was a nice opportunity to eat on the balcony with sea view.Staff is amazing. Food is delicious. Prices are low. Close to the beach and bus stop to Heraklion. There is a mini market and car rentals next to the Estia apartment. 5 km from Heraklion Airport.Perfect for kids. There is a swimming pool and kids playground next to the restaurant. One of the best stay that we had on booking.Thank you very much for everything. We already miss your hospitality and weather.
