    The best of the Crete

    rating11 Nov 2025

It was my first time visiting the island of Crete and the expirience was wonderful. Staying in the hotel was lovely, rooms were clean and amazing, the staff was a good mix of young and older people who always had a smile on their face and was always open to help us with anything we needed. The food was amazing and tasty. The position of the hotel is also very good, near the beach, markets, good restaurants and also hotel had a good colaboration with agencies for sightseeing toors around the island. Overall amazing experience and personally my choice for the next time we return to the amazing island of Crete. The hotel has an extraordinary bar where the bartenders make amazing cocktails and where you can spend the late parts of evening enjoying the peace and quiet or enjoy the local notes and melodies from local musicians. Also they had an amazing attention to detail as they noticed that my girlfriend had a birthday and they sent us a birthday cake which was an ultimate sign that their guests and their needs are at the first place.

    Nice friendly hotel

    rating25 Oct 2025

Spent a week at this decent hotel a week ago, we are sharing our personal experience. Location. It is just outside Rethymon centre and takes about 5 minutes walk to its centre and 15 minutes walk to the Old Town along the lovely beach road. It takes about 25 minutes to the bus terminus if you decide to try the local buses to go out of town. We enjoyed walking so it is ideal for us.Rooms. We had a standard room 529 facing inland view which we were very glad because it is quite a nice view from the balcony than the pool view (nothing but the small pool). Room is very spacious (22 feet x 11 feet) with all what we required as travellers. Bed was comfy and air conditioning was working well. There was plenty of hot water for shower. Staff. All were very friendly and would do their best to help. All were very polite and spoke a very good level of English. House keeping staff were efficient and changed our towels and emptied our bins daily. You might be aware that no toilet paper was to be thrown into the toilet pan!Grounds. There are 130 rooms in the hotel and they were not fully occupied when we were there. A small but nice outdoor pool with a bar next to it. Dining room wasn’t huge but adequate for its purpose. There was a conference room but we never saw how big it was.Food. A good selection for both breakfast and evening meals. There were plenty of salad and always a fish dish with other meats. We had no complaints about the food.Hotel charged €2.50 should you wish to use the room safeThere was tea/coffee making facilities but you have to bring your tea/coffee etc.No iron in our room but we brought our travel iron.We observed that there were 3 elevators which each one could accommodate 2 guests (with 2 medium cases) each time. All in all we enjoyed our stay and we would recommend Rethymon as a resort, in our opinion it is better than Chania. We were not keen with Heraklion at all. We felt we have chosen the right resort and hotel too. Mind you we paid £492 each for the whole package.

    Lovely Stay

    rating21 Oct 2025

I had a really pleasant stay at this hotel. Everything was very clean, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. My room was comfortable, and the cleaner came by every day, which I appreciated. There was a great variety of tasty food. As someone who doesn't eat meat, I was happy to see fish available every night, and the restaurant staff were very accommodating. As a solo traveler, I did have a couple of concerns. I would have felt safer with an additional or alternative lock on my door. My room was also facing a main road, which was quite noisy, and being on the first floor meant I could hear chairs scraping in the restaurant below — which was frustrating at times. That said, I would definitely stay here again, but I’d request a different room in a quieter location.

    Just OK

    rating15 Oct 2025

Location: This was perfect for us - we didn’t want to be too close to town but also not too far. It’s about 20 minutes walk along the seafront, which is just 2 minutes away.Hotel: The hotel is modern and clean. Some of the corridors are open to the air and it can mean that the noise travels.Room Location: Number 401. Our room was supposed to be a “Twin Deluxe Room (Poolview)” - it wasn’t in a twin setup but that wasn’t a problem. Unfortunately we only got a corner view of the pool. I deliberately booked this type of room as others had mentioned it was quieter than the street view. On some hotel web sites it is described as “courtyard facing” (rather than road) with a pool view. What we actually had was a pool bar view and road. This meant that it was very noisy on the entertainment nights; and although the entertainment did not go on too late, the banging Ibiza music did. We really couldn’t be bothered packing up again and the desk told us there were only 2 nights with entertainment so we made do with ear plugs. The room was cleaned daily and the sheets changed after 3 nights. Plenty of storage. The water temperature was very hit and miss. My husband would come out of the shower complaining it was cold and then when I got in it was fine!Strange but the hair dryer had a really short cord which made drying my hair very difficult lol!Generally I didn’t sleep very well, but that wasn’t the fault of the hotel - other than what appeared to be an alarm test at 4am one morning when we all traipsed down to the pool. Nobody seemed to be in charge of the evacuation, which I found very odd. We all just milled around and then went back in when the alarm stopped. Food: Was always plentiful if a little boring. I have to say that I did experience a bad tummy on our departure morning which I can directly relate to part of my meal the previous night. It was annoying that there are no drinks included with the evening meal - even water, tea or coffee!Staff: All the staff were brilliant, especially Nikos who helped us understand a bit more about Greek beers.Overall my opinion is that the hotel isn’t bad (if you get the right room) but it’s not spectacular either. My adjective would be “unremarkable”
