    Nice hotel

    rating01 Sept 2025

Nice 4* hotel. 3 pools at the hotel and one at the beach with free sun beds. Small aqua park for kids. Rooms ok, renovated and cleaned every day. Staff nice and friendly. Food ok, although quite boring after one week. Should have more shower rooms for people who are leaving hotel in the evening but need to leave rooms at 11am. Beach for hotel guests, 5 minutes walking or shuttle bus. 2 bars during the day at the main pool (water to drink is salty - I would recommend to change this) next to the hotel and at the beach. I would recommend this hotel. 2 markets and car rental next to the hotel.

Best value for money!!!A standard 4* hotel with all inclusive services and renovated rooms.Very near to Rethymno town, just 15 minutes by car, and 5 minutes walking to the sandy beach. We relaxed and had nice time at the beach bar and enjoyed our cocktails and the sunset!!!The food was tasty and the staff at the pool bar very friendly and helpful.I recommend it for families with kids because of the small waterpark at the new pool!!!

the cleanliness is very bad, the food quality is solid you almost always have same options, sea and beach is good the beach bar i alright but the snack bar is very poor you have mini fridge and is most of the time empty, rooms are okay enough space and everything. The outside is nice you have 3 pools and one has slides at the first one its nice terrace and good view, but when the wind blows you can smell septic tank and it smells very bad. its nice that every night you have someone or something like music or dances for kids which is fun and when you want to go to the beach you don’t have underpass because its 500m away and tou have to go over the he road where the cars are going 70km/h and you have to wait so there is no more cars.

Read this before you book! Not up to Four-Star standards – Unhygienic hotel

    rating23 Jul 2025

From Chania Airport, we took the shuttle bus toward Skaleta, to Azul Eco Hotel by Noho. Please note that this ride takes approximately three hours.Upon arrival at the hotel, we were warmly welcomed by the receptionist. Check-in went smoothly and we were given the key to room 209.At first glance, the room seemed fine. However, in the bathroom, we immediately noticed that there was no shower screen. The shower and toilet were positioned very close together without any partition, so water would simply run into the room during showers. Inconvenient, but manageable. One of the main pillows had a bloodstain and we found multiple hairs on the sheets. A clear sign that the bedding was either not properly washed or not hygienically stored after washing.Later that evening, we discovered a live cockroach in the room. We immediately reported this to the reception and explicitly asked for another room, but the staff member couldn’t provide one. The next morning, we found another cockroach in the bathroom. We complained again, and this time we were assigned a new room: room 509.The bathroom in room 509 was an improvement compared to the previous one, as it did have a shower screen. However, structurally, it was in worse condition. There was often a sewage smell, the metal fixtures were rusty, and there was barely any water pressure in the shower. The terrace also had many cracks in the floor. The room had numerous gaps between the walls, ceiling, and baseboards, and a moisture stain was visible above the sliding door.Unfortunately, it didn’t stop there. On the third evening, just before going to bed, we found a small insect under the sheet. Using Google Lens and other identification methods, we identified it as a bedbug. We reported this again to the reception. Since we refused to sleep another night in room 509, we were offered room 204 for one night. However, this was not a solution for us. Within 48 hours, we had encountered both cockroaches and bedbugs. The hotel’s hygiene is far below standard, and in our view, the health of guests is being compromised. The morning after discovering the bedbugs, we went back to the reception. The staff member promised that room 509 would be thoroughly cleaned. But no matter how thorough the cleaning, bedbugs cannot be eradicated with a simple cleaning. Still, we were expected to sleep in room 509 again the next night. Given that bedbugs only die at temperatures above 50°C and the room had many small crevices where they could hide, we found this an unreasonable request. We decided to book another hotel on our own initiative and had all our clothes and suitcases cleaned at high temperatures.Aside from the room issues, there were many other defects at this hotel. The Azul Beach Bar is located across the E75 highway. Upon arrival, you're verbally given two options to get there: either cross the highway, or use a narrow, dark tunnel where you have to crouch to pass through. Both options are dangerous, cars speed past and honk constantly. It’s an accident waiting to happen. We chose the “safer” option via the tunnel, which also smells terrible and is overgrown. After about ten minutes, we reached the Azul Beach Bar. A shuttle service to the beach bar was never mentioned during our stay. The Azul Beach Bar itself is in poor condition in several respects. Many sunbeds are broken, and the toilets are downright filthy. One of the men's toilets even lacks a toilet seat. Around the pool, some tiles are missing, allowing weeds to grow and attracting many ants. The sand from the unpaved areas ends up in the pool. The hotel also has several swimming pools. They look nice, and there's enough play equipment for children. However, there were issues here too. The water in the pool with the silver fountain had a strong metallic/rusty odor. The fountain didn’t work. Metals in swimming water can be harmful to health, so this requires urgent attention. At the other pool near the dining area, many sunbeds were also broken.Only one bar is ever open at a time: during the day, it’s the one by the pool with the fountain, and in the evening, it’s the one by the dining hall. The tray with lemon, orange slices, etc. for cocktails was covered with a grimy residue, clearly not cleaned daily. The hotel’s all-inclusive formula is a joke. The “snacks” supposedly included consist of a few slices of orange and grapefruit, some croissants, and occasionally a ham-and-cheese sandwich, basically leftovers from breakfast. Many guests ended up going to the nearby supermarket for proper snacks. From a four-star hotel, you expect more. What you get is a small buffet with little variety. Sometimes it felt like the same fish from lunch was served again at dinner with a sauce poured over it. The food was often bland or worse, for instance, meat that was completely blackened on the underside. The buffets and dining area were not cleaned thoroughly, even between shifts. A trampled French fry from lunch was still there in the evening. The water used for the ice cream scoop was constantly dirty and never refreshed. When we asked for a glass of wine during dinner, we were served a 30cl plastic cup. The next day, after complaining to reception, we asked for wine again. The waitress informed us that a proper glass was only available for an extra charge, plastic cups were included in the all-inclusive package. Our stay at Azul Eco Hotel was a true nightmare. What is attractively presented in photos and by travel agencies turned out to be a major disappointment. After three of the seven days, we decided to give our holiday in Crete another chance and moved to a different hotel in Rethymnon. In hindsight, that was the best decision of our trip.We are appalled by the hotel’s behavior, especially in spreading falsehoods to the travel agency to avoid issuing refunds. Customers pay for four-star service but are confronted with an appalling situation. Our advice to the hotel: use the off-season to seriously reflect and address structural problems thoroughly. We also hope for an unexpected, independent inspection. Because right now, this hotel is endangering the health and safety of its guests on multiple fronts. You could easily bring pests home in your luggage or worse, get hit by a car on the E75.
