    Beautiful location

    rating10 May 2026

Just returned from a lovely week at Bellos hotel. It's in a beautiful location and very peaceful. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was basic but very clean, towels and sheets changed most days. Self catering facilities not great, we would probably go half board next time. Our flights were very late and arrived 3am and it was late pick up - 9.20pm so felt we didn't get full benefit of the room having to check out at 11am. We could have kept the room til 5pm for an extra 35 euros but we thought that was a bit steep. We used the local bus for trips out, including a trip to Knossos and this worked out very well.

Friendly hotel staff some of their practices could be better

    rating08 May 2026

we stayed in a self catering apartment. The staff are really friendly and helpful. They make you feel so welcome. Marda was amazing every morning we came down for breakfast she was so friendly and always had a welcoming smile on her face great assert to the hotel. It is situated about a 1 mile from the front up a steep hill. The value is ok although if you want to have air con they do charge €7 a night and €12 for the safe. And if you want late checkout till 6 it costs €35 euros but they can change the room your in so you still have to pack your stuff away even if they leave a note on your door asking you if you would like to have late checkout go to reception Overall staff a really friendly although lady on reception could do with a bit of training in customer service

A great little place in a great location

    rating04 Nov 2025

We have a fabulous time at Bellos for our week's holiday in early October. We had studio no. 25 and it was perfectly fine. Liked the fact that you had a big fridge with a freezer section. Balcony was nice for a morning coffee in the sunshine.Pool areas were really nice - we preferred the upper grassy area as it was quieter. Both pool bars were great and the staff were so helpful - thank you Hannah and Costas. We loved our sundowners at the top pool bar 🍸- Mythos and lime and a Prosecco with a strawberry 🍓 - cheers! We used the tennis court a few times and it's perfectly adequate once you get used to the cracks along the service and base lines - we had good fun on the court 😁 and it was one of the reasons why we booked Bellos. Great location for us as we like walking and you have best of both worlds at Bellos - turn left to go down to the big port resort of Heronissos or turn right to go up to the three villages. All three villages are lovely and take your pick when it comes to tavernas. Our faves were Sofas in Old Heronissos and Antami in Piskopiano. Koutouloufari village is bigger than you think and good for souvenir shopping so definitely explore the little back streets. We did two tours, one to Knossos and Heraklion and the other to Spinalonga and Agios Nikolaos - both excellent and we were picked up from outside Bellos - we booked through GetYourGuide and our guides on both tours were excellent. Also did Malia on the local bus - dead easy and buses are cheap and well organised. Bus stop is at the bottom of the hill when you walk down into resort - bus stop 19. I've saved the best till last as this place was always our last stop off - the fabulous little bar 🍸 at Bellos! It didn't matter where we were during the day or evening, we made our way back to Bellos bar as the service and hospitality were outstanding. The bar and entertainment staff were all so welcoming and they couldn't do enough for you. They knew your 🍸 drinks, they had whatever sports you wanted on the various TVs and there was always some form of entertainment on every night just after 10pm. (Can I just point out that this is perfect timing 👌 for people coming back from evening meals in the villages or up from the port resort). We met some lovely people 😀 in and around the bar and within the first few days it was if two bar stools had our names on them! It was like the Cheers Bar as mentioned in a previous review!! Greek night is worth booking - it's on Saturday and starts at 8pm. Can't thank the bar staff enough for the great service and entertainment they provided throughout our stay. It's a special little place and hopefully we'll be back one day.

    A lovely break

    rating31 Oct 2025

2 ads and 15yo boy. - short 5 night break. Oct half term.Stayed in 1 bed apt, had to move rooms after the first night, room 205 due to noise, the room is located near a water tank room or boiler/plant room and the hissing and the clunking kept us up all night, we spoke to our neighbours who said it didn't bother them but it bothered us so we requested to move rooms and they happily obliged. As the hotel was quiet due to end of season there was another room available, not so sure we would have been able to move in the height of the season.rooms v basic and v outdated, not spotlessy clean but ok.beds i thought particularly uncomfortable. balconies small but nice. airer for clothes provided. some detail to cleaning needed in the bathroom.only one plug socket in the kitchen!toaster and kettle provided. i needed to wash all crockery before use as not the cleanest.2 cooking rings.fridge needed a clean. tea towel provided but you need to take a scourer and washing up liquid yourself.i think the cleaning standards may have slipped in the rooms due to end of season. i don't think our floors were swept or mopped once.we had fresh towels and sheets and beds were changed and bins were changed. stains on the walls near the bin.we didn't pay for air con as not needed, plenty of fresh air from opening the windows was sufficient. gym 5 euro a visit. the grounds are well kept, huge area for sunbathing at the top pool, pools cold but refreshing and cleanbar area dated but cocktails and rose wine perfectly acceptable.all of the complex is a little dated to be honest but its adequate. yes its on a hill, and is a bit of walk from everything but we didn't mind this, there's a supermarket at the bottom of the hill, the walk back at night isn't as bad as everyone makes out, just use your torch on your phone, there are some fantastic views on these walks. if you have any sort of mobility issue may not be the best unless your prepared to hire a car or pay for taxis.what makes this hotel are the friendly attentive staff and the outdoor facilities and the fact it is family run. Drinks and snacks reasonably priced. The Saturday BBQ was great as it brought the hotel occupants together and the Greek dancers were also entertaining. I would agree to bring the entertainment a little earlier. We had snack food mainly but had a lovely meal the first night, lamb chops were delicious.Would we go again - Yes i would if the price was right and i don't think i would do any more than a week here. The weather was perfect all week. Its not a 5 star hotel and you know this when booking.I don't think there are any hidden nasties here, go and judge for yourself as everyone has different standards. if your not happy with anything speak to the staff.there is a courtesy room you can use on last day, just ask the staff for the key otherwise ask for late check out. There are plenty of books in the reception area. Pool table, darts, cards and a few other games. All in all we had a lovely break, and i havent been out off with its flaws.go and judge for yourelf.

Great hotel and lovely staff, especially restaurant and bar staff. Many thanks Maria for your help with our food requirements and bar conversation. We only have great memories from our 2 weeks at Bellos. Nothing negative to say, hope we can be with you again next year, never wanted to leave when we had to. Hope you all have a well deserved winter break.
