    Not a 4 star hotel!!

    rating09 Oct 2018

Smallest bathroom ever!! You could shower, go to the loo and clean your teeth at the same time. Shower flooded every time, no toiletries in the room and take your own pool towel. Not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel.Restaurant is more like a school canteen and you need to eat in sittings which meant if you are not there for 7pm there was less food later to choose from.To get to the pool and bar area you have to walk through an underground car park and if you wish to use the WC you have to assend or descend to get there.Would not recommend this hotel.

GREAT - NEWLY REFURBISHED (May 2018)

    rating07 Jun 2018

This is a great hotel, it is in a great location, about 2 minutes walk to the front with the beach and bars/restaurants but far enough to not hear any noise round the pool ect. There are plenty of great bars down near the front, I recommend palm beach for younger people. The rooms were comfortable and came with slippers and dressing gowns and fresh towels every day. Free aircon and good wifi with a nice bath room and small balcony(due to the aircon unit). The staff are so friendly and helpful, couldn't do more to help. After a delayed flight we ended up arriving at the hotel at midnight, but the hotel had left food for us with water to drink when we arrived which was brilliant. The food is nice, but dining room is slightly small, and more labelling is needed, e.g. vegetarian/dairy/gluten ect but the variety was good and tasty. The pool area is lovely, not loads of sun beds I imagine in peak season this could be an issue however there is seating around the outside bar area too. The bar is good, but drinks are served until 10pm and cocktails have to be paid for, however we managed to find plenty to satisfy our appetite. For the four of us that went, this holiday was perfect. Would highly recommend this hotel!

The City Green Hotel (New Name) Great Staff - Trying Hard with Limited Space.

    rating27 May 2018

This was a very inexpensive All Inclusive holiday we took for a week in the sun.The Hotel had dreadful reviews in 2016 BEFORE it was refurbished and given a complete face-lift and we were there the 2nd week it had re-opened. With any new venture you can expect teething problems, and they had a few but some of the criticism levelled at the staff by the (essentially) middle aged to retirement aged clientelle - we thought - was a little hasty at times.Sure there were some problems, all of which they addressed immediately and usually rectified within 24 hours but there were several contenders for the Moan Olympics staying that week .. you know the sort - 5 star attitude with 2 star budgets! Anyway I'll cut to the skinny: The food was perfectly acceptable and given that they had to ferry it all from the kitchens downstairs to the dining room upstairs via the service lift, there was sometimes a lack of continuity. Apparently this will change as they are converting the (possibly pointless) 'under hotel' car park into the kitchens and a much larger dining room later this year. Signage could be improved. The bathrooms could do with a bit more room and perhaps a shower screen - which some rooms do have apparently. The balcony for our room was so tight it was difficult to use. The large beds were comfortable and brand new. Free Air Conditioning included. All the new fixtures and fittings were of a good quality but sometimes the layout was not as practical as it could have been - proably the builder's choice - but ALL the staff were lovely, well mannered, helpful and professional to a fault. The all inclusive drinks menu was - at the start - a bit ify but following a few comments they added to it as they went along ... and it ends at 10pm hmm. There are a couple of things though which they need to address fairly quickly; The bar area has 5 tables & chairs, but given that with full occupancy they need to seat a potential clientelle of (say) 160 people, this is woefully inadequate. The swimming pool is too small for when it's hot and the sunbeds are too few - again they have improvement plans for a 2nd pool. The area around the existing pool and bar is turfed (real grass) which everyone thought was a mistake as it became muddy and quickly down-trodden due to their watering of it. Surely this should be a paved area, that way there would be more room for tables & chairs etc.The lift in our building could be a very tight fit for one LARGE person, let alone the 4 people it was plated for!Again we learned that only a week before they opened the pool area was still a building site! So, we put 2 & 2 together and assumed the builders were late with the hand-over and the turf was a quick fix! But, just walk 100m and you are in the hub of it all with lots of shops, supermarkets, car/bike hire plots, travel/excursion offices etc, and within 300m you are at the sea. Generally the terrain is fairly flat so walking is relatively easy. The lack of beach may be a problem for some but there were several private beach area which came well recommended by others. There are several nice restaurants and bars to be found, so plenty to keep you busy there - or relaxed. So all in all, we enjoyed our budget holiday as we were in holiday mood but generally - with the right attitude - you will 'manage ok' any of the areas to be developed ... and if we could make a suggestion to the management ... Many hotels now are making a policy of removing towels etc placed to secure sunbeds as this is unfair when many of them are not being used and there are many guests who would like to use them all day. Although this problem was hi-lighted, to some extent, due to the distinct lack of places to sit - and there were those who 'bagged' tables & chairs AND sunbeds in a very selfish, greedy way.So to conclude, we thought that many of the 'moaners' were influenced by the unusually cool breeze and lack of sun we had, but we thought it was a decent 3 star hotel and actually felt sorry for the staff as they are on the 'coal face' and having to deal with the complaints that should be, perhaps, levelled at the owners and/or the builders, but give them a chance - they are getting there! Well Done! to the 5* staff 10/10 for effort. David & Helen.

    Definitely not *** hotel

    rating24 Sept 2016

All inclusive programme was really poor, in *** hotel I would expected better service. What about drinks, you can get a drink only on bar, where usually wasn't a waiter (receptionist and dishwasher in one person). There was no automat where you could get a drink whenever you want. Food was ok, sometimes tasty, but lack of choice. What about breakfasts, there were no boiled meal like eggs or sausagges. Although we had an all-inclusive programme, there were no snacks.Room service was ok, they cleaned room every day. We got towels, but there was no soap and the shower was a bit tiny. Bets were quite uncomfortable. When you wish aircondition it is 5 € extra per a day. There wasn't a lift in a hotel. Wi-fi connection worked only in a "dining room".Staff was ok.Hotel is really good situated, city center and beach are nearby. When you just want to sleep there, it's fine and cheap place where to stay. When you want enjoy your holiday all-in I wouldn't reccommend it.
