  Fabulous Villa in peaceful setting with all amenities nearby.

  We had the most wonderful family holiday at Cretan Mansion. The Villa is in the most peaceful setting with beautiful views over the countryside and mountains beyond and a fabulous sunset in the evening. We arrived in the early hours of the morning and the owners had kindly supplied bread, butter, fruit, ham, eggs, cheese and more. The Villa itself is extremely well equipped and the garden well tended. The swimming pool is a great size and our five children and their inflatables had plenty of room to play. There is no shallow area but we took a paddling pool for our toddler and she soon joined the others in the pool. The shaded seating and dining area was very welcome in the August heat! The village of Kavros is a 20 minute walk away with restaurants, shops and the beach. We did not have a car and would regularly walk down to the excellent local restaurants for our evening meal and get a taxi back. We would highly recommend George at Traitorakis Travel for their taxi service. Their new air conditioned cars and mini bus were readily available and reasonably priced. We even used them for a trip for the 11 of us to the water park. The Fun Train is also a great way to visit local beauty spots. The local beach was great for our family. The first week the sea was calm and great for swimming and the second week we had rolling waves which added to the fun with a welcome cooling breeze. We had many delicious leisurely lunches at the Akrogiali Tavern on the beach. Beware the Raki! A special thank you to Maria who was always available at the end of the phone and Mrs Tiki and her cleaning staff who kept the Villa immaculate. One small point to mention is the extremely steep staircase to the attic bedroom and the two outside bedrooms which may not suit every family but we would not hesitate to highly recommend this Villa.   Luxury family hotel in a remote part of Crete

  The Cretan Malia is an elegant beautifully designed hotel, set in a rural part of Crete - aprox 30 mins from the airport (the roads are good to get here).The hotel looks exactly as it does on the website, although the river pool is even better in real life - perhaps one of the best I’ve been to. The beach can be a bit choppy, not always ideal for kids.Rooms are standard, spacious and clean. They are definitely not soundproof, although you will sleep very well regardless.All the restaurants on site are superb and affordable, which is just as well because there really are very few options nearby. I would recommend the watermelon and feta at Mezza - such a shame they dont open in the evening for families. The main restaurant serves a wonderful breakfast, but the lunch menu is average - I wouldn't go full board.The hotel although lovely does have room for improvement. Its design sometimes gets in the way of functionality: like no steps into the main pool and in the other pool, steps leading down and then a huge 2ft drop. The walkways also have lots of breaks, which you can easily trip over, and the grass area for lounging gets muddy and unenjoyable.The surrounding area is quite remote, meaning there’s lots of dusty roads and annoying tourists on Quad bikes, making it hard to visit anywhere by foot. This was probably the biggest let down, as it meant we didn’t really get out of the hotel. That said, the immediate restaurant outside the hotel and ‘Port Malia’ are lovely and worth visiting.A mix of British, German and Italian guests here. Most let their kids run riot at night, which is highly annoying let alone unsafe by the beach, I dont know why you wouldnt keep a closer eye on your children.On a final note, the staff here are wonderful, especially Anna on reception who was very kind to help us out when there was a room mix up on arrival. Also, a big thanks to Marianne in guest relations who went out of her way to help us. Such lovely people.

  Amazing villa

  We stayed in the villa for 7 nights 10 people In July 2020.The villa is amazing and spacious, the pool is amazing and clean.Maria who met us on arrival was really nice and helpful during our stay. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you will need, we even found a popcorn machine for the kids. There is shampoo, conditioner, body lotion - all you will need. The fridge was filled with groceries on arrival, beer, wine, fruit, butter, cheese and much much more. Truly amazing. Amazing is just the only word to describe this villa. The view is stunning, the small garden is lush. We truly enjoyed our stay here and hope to come back one day. Only small remark is that you will need a car. We were told that supermarket was close by, but it is a 20 min. walk in the near by town, which is where you will also find the tavernas. Going to the beach we drove to Georgioupoli, which is a really nice small town 5 mins drive to the west. Thank you for a great start on the 2020 summer holiday!

  We love traveling !! And always we book houses and villas this time our stay was really fantastic ,, the villa has everything and much better that the pictures and the high light was the heated pool that we can use all time even the night bbq and swimming at the paradise 5 bedrooms and all with own bathroom 2 living rooms Big garden and big veranda SO what else you can ask for quiet relaxing holidays ?   I'm traveling a lot. This villa is by far the best I have ever stayed at. Fully equipped super clean and the most friendly hosts. The swimming pool is a GEM! The nearby Georgioupolis beach is miles long with wonderful golden sand and one can find his own private spot.
