Beautiful family hotel in the lovely old town area of Heronissos

    rating19 Sept 2025

A wonderful stay for just 1 night on a cycling tour. It was our favourite stopover. The family were all so friendly and helpful, when our luggage hadn’t arrived from the previous hotel. Very comfortable loungers. Close to the lovely square in the old town. Fantastic breakfast by the pool and a beautiful room with a sea view. Thank you!

    Terrible experience!!

    rating24 Jan 2024

Terrible experience, wish that we had read previous reviews, but it was a last minute cheap booking! Only a weeks holiday, thank goodness. Weather was beautiful and we've stayed in the area before so knew how beautiful the place is... you can't fault the facilities but the young yobs that were staying there totally dominated the small hotel. We complained daily to the management but nothing changed . We didn't sleep a full night as the loud music, voices shouting and people running up and down past our room went on til 7/8am every night. Just a nightmare. Think twice before booking this place ! You get what you pay for. Elli panagiotopoulou, General Manager at Bella Vista, responded to this review It looks like every winter there is a discriminative comment on tripadvisor. We guess this is the policy of people who want to harm Bella Vista. Hiding behind anonymity and complaining for things that never happened.Dear future guests, we can assure you that last summer we had no complaint for noise and disturbance and even if we had have, we would have settled the problem immediately as we always do.Please pay no attention to the above comment because it is untrue and malicious.

Good price, but dominated by noisy youth

The positives: always someone available if there is a problem, the people running it are lovely. The cleaning staff are exceptional and go above and beyond - obviously very kind and hard working people. Spotless. The location is good too, for lazy evening walks into the very atmospheric old town, which in the day is ok but not particularly picturesque, but in the evening with the lights it all comes alive with rustic places to eat and drink. One place, we just had amazing desserts amongst lemon trees and lights. There are lots of restaurants to choose, but it all adds up in euros! We stayed half board... it was far cheaper for a family, but not nearly as good and atmospheric as eating in the Old Town. However, the hotel food served was all fresh and well done, with good servings: and they will do a Greek Salad if you are wanting light things, and adapt the menu if you need to. Very kind and accommodating. Drinks are extra. I can recommend Mythos beer!We rented a car the whole time for our week, which I think is a must. But if you intend to stay local the whole time, taking a taxi will be cheaper. I can recommend Auto Candia for car rental... the cheap Panda could take all our luggage. They were straightforward to deal with, and great value. Get your excess insurance via a specialist website, rather than their own. Much cheaper. When we were at the apartment, the aircon was included in the price. Had to pay the usual "hotel tax" that everyone has to pay. So, be prepared for that. We didn't use the pool. It was small. We didn't sunbathe either... it's a compact complex of apartments and the balconies look over it.So, to the negatives, which I think people should know about:Having read all the reviews, I thought this would be a quiet family atmosphere in August. Somewhere quiet was super important for us, to get rest. Seeing the reviews (at that time) and being located away from the night club hotspots, in the Old Town I thought I found the right place for us as a sanctuary of rest. Wrong. As others pointed out, it felt the entire complex was overrun by young people. Arriving, we had loudspeakers set up and blaring right outside our door step at 10.00pm, and because we had a shared balcony, with two beds next to the balcony window, our children couldn't sleep almost the entire night. It was awful. The problem was, the youth sleep in the day, and party through the night. They only go to bed at 6.00am. And they crowd the balconies, literally right outside your room and laugh and chat loudly throughout ALL the night! It puts you in the position of being forced to complain... which we did once and was kindly acted on. The youth were told, and there was some improvement (they weren't happy with us!), but it didn't last. Another group came in, and started all over again - cooking on our balcony. It just really spoilt our stay, and ruined any sense of hotel rest. It was stressful, as we were shattered and kids upset. Great for youth... just don't go if you want quiet. Go to a place where there are age limits at the hotel, or where you don't have a shared balcony.... A stress having to complain about other guests, when you know they just want a good, lively time. But it was a clash of what people want out of a holiday. It's a summer holiday - but in this tight space, with 8 youth right outside your window a foot away from your room's bed. I don't need that. Therefore I won't go again... sorry Bella Vista. Youth? Go for it, you will find your own there! We just wanted quiet rest. TIP: if you like everything else you see, ask for a room that doesn't have a shared balcony. That helps give some privacy and noise protection. Our main headache was the shared balcony, and with four of us, two had to sleep that side of the apartment. But the atmosphere wasn't great, when dominated by groups of rowdy young people - unless that's what you want.Price wise, it was spot on... so, overall a very good economical stay, and good value for money. Which I guess is why the younger crowd love it... they seem to book it out as groups of friends, as they obviously know each other. If I go to Crete again, I'd hire a car again, and make sure I find a guaranteed quiet, private place in some remote area where youth won't want to go. Perhaps hard to find in August. I'm not anti-youth...! I just like to sleep at night.Still, we enjoyed Crete. And the meal times at the hotel were friendly and we were otherwise well looked after. The breakfast was fine, with plenty to eat. I can't fault the function of the rooms or the people trying to make our stay comfortable. They are just helpless to change what has become a place of choice for young people wanting the place for themselves!

Lovely family run hotel. Lovely room with plenty of space. Food and service was great and the staff really friendly. A small walk away from old Hersonissos which has a great ice-cream shop and some lovely restaurants. We would definitely visit again
