    Gem of a hotel

    Myself & my partner sent a fabulous 10 days at the Elia Marina Hotel. I thoroughly recommend it.Firstly the staff, every single one of them was so friendly & helpful....nothing to them was a problem. They always had a smile to greet you.Our room was perfect.....it was on the ground floor, no steps or stairs. We had a room with disability access. Neither of us have great mobility. The room was cleaned every day, fresh towels every day too. The room itself was spacious & very clean.Breakfast is buffet style with plenty of choice & some lovely surprises some mornings eg pavlova, spring rolls...for breakfast...yumThe only thing that I think let the hotel down was the menu in the restaurant. I didnt think the selection or variety of food was great. The restaurants near the hotel had a huge variety of different foods & they were all great.However, none of that would stop me coming back to this little gem of a hotel, situated right on the beach in Agia Marina.The photos you see are exactly what the hotel looks like.

    Had a two week stay at the resort late September/early October. We had arranged an airport pick up on arrival as the hotel advertise. I had confirmed this with them a couple of days earlier. Evening arrival but no pick up. Wasted half an hour waiting/phone calls and ended up taking a taxi. Lukewarm apology when we checked in. What I thought was really poor was no contact, apology from management. We were there for two weeks. A simple drink at the bar wouldn’t have gone amiss.The room was ultra modern and comfortable. House keeping was excellent. Water, tea, coffee, toiletries replenished daily as required. Great walk in shower. Nice sized balcony with comfortable table and chairs. Side sea view. Room was a good size but limited storage for a lengthy stay. Open wardrobe with 10 hangers and a shelf but not a single drawer. Safe, fridge and tea making facilities included. TV but we didn’t use it. Exceptionally quiet.There are two small pools with 10 sun loungers between them. We were attracted by the private beach immediately in front of the hotel. Free loungers and umbrellas for hotel guests and you could order drinks to your sunbed. Never busy when we were there. Nice sandy beach and shallow waters. Lots of other beach bars adjacent if you fancy a change of scene for a drink/snack.Breakfast was okay. Quite repetitive and the hot food was often lukewarm. We didn’t eat at the hotel in the evening. The location is excellent to take advantage of the many bars and restaurants in resort, loads within a 2 to 10 minute walk. Easy access into Chania on the bus, stop nearby, at 2 euro each.Staff were cheerful and helpful without exception, first impression excepted. Would recommend and stay again which is always my ultimate benchmark.

    Disappointing Stay – Beware of Ground Floor Rooms

    We’re currently on our second day of a three-night stay, and unfortunately, our experience doesn’t match the glowing reviews that led us to book this hotel.Our room, located on the ground floor, has been plagued by mosquitoes and constant noise from what seems to be a nearby staff room or kitchen. We’ve raised these concerns with the reception three times, kindly asking if we could move to a different room. Each time, we were told the only solution was to spray insecticide, which hasn’t made any noticeable difference.Breakfast has also been a letdown—bland and uninspired. We’ve had far better meals in more modest two-star hotels.There may be nicer rooms here, but if you’re unlucky like us, your stay will fall far short of expectations.

    Just a terrific stay. Great accomdations..Everything spotless...very comfortable rooms albeit not large. We had a private pool of. Our room for great end afternoon swim and cocktail. They clean all pools meticulously every early morning. I see them take specks out of pool. Breakfast was excellent with many fresh and unique Cretan goodies. We had a Cretan salad for lunch everyday...feeds 2+ easy. So friggin fresh. Beachfront ...umbrellas and louges free to guests. The island is all english fluent..cant say enough about the Elia staff. Top to bottom so friendly and always ready to serve. We had a early AM flight and they offered to box breakfast boxes for us. Where have you seen that. All In all..top shelf...very reasonable. Will be back for sure.
