Next to the club street, two days without sleeping

    rating12 Jul 2025

That was the 4th time we visited chania and we booked the room with the sea view. We payed around 160euro per night. At night there was very loud music until 6 o clock in the morning and couldn't sleep at all. That destroyed our holidays since we couldn't do anything during the day due to luck of sleep at night. We speak with the reception and it seemed to be a known problem to them. The male receptionist told us to drink more at night so we passed out and not hear the music. I was shocked by his unprofessionalism! Also the photos of the bathroom are misleading. The bathroom and the bedroom are very tiny. At night it was very difficult to walk around the bed to get out of the bedroom.

Perfect location, your own piece of history

    rating08 Oct 2023

Comfy, cosy and great bolt hole, in the very heart of the old town, but by being 1 street back you lose the noise of the harbour restaurants etc. Taxi can drop you pretty much at the door, unlike many in the old town. Great hotel group, nothing is too much trouble.Cute little balcony overlooking one of the many archaeological sites. Excellent air con, comfy bed. Kitchen not ideal for much self catering but surrounded by wonderful places to eat from street food kiosks to grand restaurants, who needs to cook. Small food shop 100yrds. Fridge and kettle + coffee maker are pretty much all you might use, but there is a 2 ring hob. Yes like so many in the Old Town its stairs, 4 flights but as lifts are not allowed in these amazing historic buildings it is the same for all. Close to all you need 10 min walk to main bus station, 10 min to modern shopping area. 2 mins to harbour with restraurants, museums and boat trips.

Magical Room at the Top of the Harbor

    rating30 Apr 2023

You’ll walk up 50 marble steps; elevators are forbidden in Old Town. You’ll have trouble finding taxis; streets are pedestrian-only. You’ll talk with Reception by phone and email.Your reward will be one of the most magical balconies in Greece, at the top of Chania’s Old Venetian Harbor. We booked the 4th floor One-Bedroom Suite at the Elia Estia Erato building of Elia Hotels and loved every minute. Elia Hotels Group has renovated historic buildings around Chania into over 20 boutique hotels and apartments. It’s not the Ritz, but you can get that in the US. In Greece, the glitches are worth it to experience Chania up close.Old Venetian Harbor doesn’t just glitter like a storybook–it is a storybook, with more history than anything Disney could imagine. On the stairway landing was a full set of knight's armor (photo). Our balcony had a panoramic view of colorful baroque buildings, dramatic fortresses, an historic mosque and the medieval lighthouse–all reflecting in the harbor at sunset and at night (photos, video). Below us around the harbor were two dozen fine seaside restaurants. In walking distance were huge 16th century monuments to explore and beaches with even more great restaurants.Mr. Antonis Yiakoumakis, Ms. Despina Liakou, and Ms. Maria at Elia Zampeliou Hotel Reception a few streets away (which was our Reception Desk), helped us so much! They showed why Crete is famous for hospitality–even when coping with historic buildings. Historic buildings, for example, don’t have a lot of furniture. There were no drawers for clothing, no place to put modern clam-shell luggage. But when we asked for a luggage stand, they somehow got a large extra table up 3 flights of stairs for us. When I needed smaller bills, Mr. Yiakoumakis personally took me and my 50 Euro bill door to door among local tavernas as waiters whizzed by with heavy trays, until we found a cashier with change. The ambiance was superb, the local food is fantastic, and most important, the people are wonderful. If you need anything, call or email; they answer quickly. When we asked for a few extra towels, we got a weeks’ worth. When the city tore up a nearby street, Ms. Despina personally escorted us to and from our building. Need something? Just ask! :)

    A good place to be

    rating10 May 2019

Think its the first time in our 81 past bookings with Booking.com we've felt sorrow, almost, upon leaving. It made us think of the last emir of Granada, weeping when looking back on his lost capital. This was our 'Alhambra'. Since 'everybody already knows', judging from Booking.com, it's no use trying to keep this a secret; this is the place to stay in Chania. Spectacular views. From snow-clad Lefka Ori to the Cretian sea. Just above the old Venetian Harbour of Chania. Six large windows. Rooms with a View, that's it. Shower, bed, fridge, saftybox. We've had larger, more exclusive, better facilities, better equipped apartments, but this is undoubtedly the best place we've ever stayed.600 meters from the KTEL, Public bus service in Chania/Crete.Who used to live here, throughout the centuries, until the Age of Tourism. If the walls could talk, they should have had some interesting answers. Second floor, but really like it was fourth, since 5-6 meters from floor to ceiling. Some (bearable) disco noise from below. Sadly, it was not possible to stay for more than three nights, since it was already booked. About 20 out of 25 Booking.com-pictures could be from our apt., but there are 3 others. Might confuse.

    Fantastic View!

    rating01 May 2018

Very nice, clean and modern room! The view is amazing! The staff is friendly and kind! They offer you amenities that one can found only in luxurious hotels (bath kits, sewing kit, bath robes, slippers, iron, coffee machine and capsules). The location is perfect, just in the center of the venetian harbour! The bed was so comfortable!!!Just be aware that the building does not offer elevator, so you need to climb up quite a few steps in order to reach the 3rd floor. Also, there is no reception in this building..(it is around 200metres away).
