Is this really a 'Boutique' hotel?

    rating08 Oct 2025

Stayed at this hotel in late September on our return from a stay on the south coast. Great location overlooking the Venetian harbour in the old town. We booked a deluxe room with balcony and sea view, I feel we had one of the smaller versions of this room grade (called Lord) after inspecting the photos on the hotel website. The room was a little jaded but the bed was large & comfortable, clearly the room has a high occupation rate and it shows. Given that it promotes itself as a 'boutique' hotel we found very few 'boutique' features - maybe the bathrobes help to qualify its 'boutique' status?Sadly 'boutique' is a very over-used and miss-used word these days, perhaps 'shabby chic' would be a more fitting description. The room had a small coffee machine but only 2 coffee pods and no milk or coffee whitener. The young man who checked us in provided a small jug of fresh milk and was apologetic about the amount of coffee pods supplied adding that it was company policy not to offer more than 2 and added that the hospitality tray would not be refreshed during our 2 day stay - not very 'boutique'! The bathroom desperately needs a refurbishment. Black grouting in the shower base suggests a poor cleaning regime along with mould in the toothbrush beaker (see photo) yuk! Towel rail fell apart when I put the towels on it! (see photo), is this 'boutique'?Reception desk was manned by staff whose attitudes ranged from not bothered to helpful. On arrival we were lucky to have a helpful young man who carried our heavy suitcase to our first floor room but no help was available on our departure and the person manning reception was unapologetic about this. We knew that the hotel had no lift but expected a porter service as part of the 'boutique' experience - wrong. Breakfast was included in our room rate and served in a nearby building, it was more than adequate offering a good range of hot & cold food. Couldn't help comparing this hotel experience with another Chania hotel (the week before we stayed at the Porto Veneziano hotel) where we enjoyed excellent customer service, a very good clean fresh room and no coffee restrictions!!

Elia Palatino in Chania old town

    rating09 Jun 2024

We had a very good stay in this small boutique hotel. It is located in the old town in front of the port. The rooms are large, very confortable and very quiet. The breakfast is served in the near Elia Zampeliou hotel and is very good. We reccomend this hotel ...hope to come back in beautiful Chania!

A Great Hotel in Old Town Chania!

    rating18 May 2023

This was a great hotel that was in a nice central location right next to the harbor in Chania. The hotel itself is located in a building that is at least 200 hundred years old but has been tastefully updated and has all the modern conveniences while still retaining its old world charm. The rooms were spacious, had lots of light and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was also very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The hotel also offers a great breakfast option that had hot and cold items and was a wonderful way to start our day. We would highly recommend this hotel if you are planning a trip to Chania, Crete.

If only the jacuzzi was big enough for two it would be perfect ;)

    rating26 Jan 2023

Excellent views from Kings Room, well appointed, though bath was a little tight for two ;) In the heart of the harbour with plenty of eateries and bars. Worth a walk around the backstreets to find those little jems like Kritamon Taverna. We will be back

    Cozy and clean.

    rating28 Sept 2022

The Queen room was big enough with nice decor. (no port view) The staff was extremely helpful and friendly all the time. The hotel location is ideal. Quiet and convenient. You do daily exercise on the big stairs. The terrace place is beautiful to take pictures and enjoy coffee and reading.
