Location

Built in 1925 and classified as a historical building, the hotel is located in the heart of Heraklion, overlooking the harbour and within walking distance of all the major sights of the city.

Facility

Guests have a choice of 8 junior suites, 2 suites and 48 double rooms. This hotel has a lift and a reception desk. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. There are a number of shops, including a supermarket. Additional amenities include a TV room and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (no extra charge) or in the car park (no extra charge). Further services and facilities include a car hire service, medical assistance, room service, a laundry service and a coin-operated laundry. The business centre is on hand for guests' business requirements and provides a fax machine. Lectures, presentations and meetings can be held in one of the 3 conference rooms.

Rooms

Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. In most units, guests can enjoy a view of the sea from a balcony or terrace. Rooms have a double bed, a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Additional features include a refrigerator, a mini fridge and a tea/coffee station. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio, a CD player and WiFi (no extra charge) provide all the essentials for a comfortable holiday. Guests can take advantage of the nightly turndown service. Slippers are included. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower, a bathtub and a whirlpool bath. A hairdryer, a vanity mirror and bathrobes are available for daily use. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. The hotel has non-smoking rooms.

    Heraklion was the first stop on a trip to Crete for me and my 19 yr old daughter. We stayed at the GDM for one night, and honestly, I can not fault it at all. 10 minute drive from the airport, and situated not far from the historic port. We arrived a little early to check in, so dropped our bags and enjoyed a lovely meal and drink at the roof top restaurant / bar. We shared an executive room, a huge comfy double bed, balcony, big bathroom and all wonderfully clean. After a little exploring of Heraklion we decided to also eat dinner at the hotel, which was equally delicious. Breakfast the following morning was so huge in choice; largely Greek dishes which I loved with 3 tables of different foods plus the chilled options. Heraklion itself I didn’t find particularly inspiring, though I can imagine a good base. But this hotel, just fabulous, thank you.     An incredibly beautiful and well appointed historical hotel. The rooftop pool and bar is a must. Lots or parking available. Don’t think, just book it.     Amazing hotel. Reception staff we exceptional. Very warm and friendly welcome. I was upgraded to a bigger room which was fantastic. Huge downfall was the breakfast. Scrambled eggs and a few friend eggs were on offer. I asked the waiter if there is any other hot breakfast available ( as it seemed as it was an afternoon tea party with all the cakes in offer ) his reply was abrupt as he said later..... As i was leaving the breakfast area a kitchen staff member shout out that omelette and a sausage is available. Talk about embarrassing.Overall besides the breakfast and exceptional overnight stay.     I always stay at the GDM when in Heraklion. The hotel is perfectly located to walk to the centre of Heraklion (<10 minutes walk). The rooms are well maintained and clean and balconies are very pleasant especially looking toward the port.The staff are always very welcoming and super friendly. Parking is limited but good for a city centre location. Public car parks are also close by. Definitely worth considering if you're visiting Heraklion.
