Location

Aghia Marina is located a mere 8 km west of the city of Chania towards Kissamos. It was named after a small church dedicated to St. Marina. The abundance of trees combined with the sun-blessed beaches that stretch over 2.5 km on the north coast have turned Aghia Marina into one of the most popular holiday destinations in Crete. The fine golden sand that blends with the trees along the shoreline make for truly exotic surroundings.

Facility

The resort has 2 junior suites and 49 double rooms, which are located on 3 storeys and are reachable by lift. English- and German-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access in public areas (for a fee) allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. There are also a number of shops that make for great strolling and browsing. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Additional facilities include a TV room. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Further services and facilities include a babysitting service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service (for a fee), a laundry service, a hotel doctor and a hotel shuttle bus. Active guests who wish to explore the surrounding area by bike will appreciate the bicycle hire service (for a fee). Bicycle storage is also available. A business centre with fax machine and photocopier is available.

Rooms

Air conditioning and individually adjustable heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Most units include a balcony with sea views, where guests can relax and linger a while. Rooms have a double bed or a queen-size bed. Separate bedrooms are available. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Slippers are included. A hairdryer and bathrobes are available in the bathrooms, which are equipped with a bathtub. The resort has 51 non-smoking rooms.

Sport

There are indoor and outdoor pools and a children's swimming area. Guests can treat themselves to refreshing drinks at the poolside snack bar and a relaxing soak in the hot tub. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. Outdoor sports available at the resort include golf or, for a fee, cycling/mountain biking, tennis, beach volleyball and horse riding. With snorkelling or, for a fee, water skiing, windsurfing, jet skiing, motorboat rides, banana boat rides, canoeing and diving available, fans of water sports have plenty of options to choose from. The fitness rooms are perfect for a comprehensive workout. There is a wellness area with a spa, a sauna, a hammam and a beauty salon. Subject to charge: massage treatments. An entertainment programme and live music are also options for entertainment.

Meals

Dining facilities include a breakfast room, a café and a bar. Warm hospitality and a cosy atmosphere await guests in 2 non-smoking restaurants. Refreshing drinks at the beach bar are a perfect way to enjoy warm weather. Catering options include bed and breakfast and half board. A generous breakfast buffet, a lunch à la carte and a comprehensive dinner buffet offer plenty of delicious variety. Gluten-free meals and vegetarian dishes can be prepared on request. The show cooking is a particularly special attraction. The resort offers a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

    Escape to Crete! Santa Marina Plaza

    A lovey small hotel. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help you with anything; bus timetables, maps, shop opening times. Hotel is clean. Our room was clean, bright and comfortable. It is very obvious the staff are proud to work there.Breakfast was good. Huge selection to choose from, with seating inside and out. I didn't have dinner there so I can't comment on that.Big shout out to lovely Niki, always so happy, enjoyed all our conversations.We travelled there in the first week of the season so the area was very quite (which is what I needed). The beach is clean and you can enjoy a long walk. The pool area is lovely and clean, pool was closed whilst we were there as it was being retiled.Plenty of restaurants along the road. Easy bus trip into Chania only costing 2.20 euros each way. I would definitely suggest a trip or two into Chania, maybe a day trip and an evening trip.Would I stay at this hotel again? Yes, without a doubt.Thank you to all the staff.

    British rubbish food only !!!Terrible management!No pool for 10 day!No entertainment for two weeks!"Adults only" = flooded by british O.A.P.s!Waiting time for a table is one hour min. because people do not leave after their meal and stay on for drinks forever.FOUR STAR IS A BIG LIE !!!This is a bad two star hotel.

    After working during my youth in turism as a tour guide and then as an electrical engineer , I have visited 39 countries so far, but lately I have started to return to the places where I felt the safest and had the best time. So this summer we will go again to Giannoulis Santa Marina Plazza, in Crete, 8 km from Chania. It is already the third time here! Looking forward to nice vacation ...

    Great stay during LICK Weekender!

    I cannot rate this hotel highly enough! My friend and I stayed during the LICK Weekender and had an absolutely incredible time. The customer service was top tier from the start. Rooms were very clean, cleaned daily and cleaners very friendly. Requested an iron that was with me in less than 10minutes.The food was also fantastic in variety, flavoursome and fresh, bartenders had great convo and made amazing cocktail recommendations. The receptionist and manager made epic efforts to help up travel around Chania. They used maps and went online to help find us fantastic food recommendations (which didn’t fall short at all). The hotel was also perfectly accessible to the beach and only a couple minutes away from Cabana Mare and all the LICK action. Despite being slightly higher price to surrounding place, hearing of the experience others had made me realise it was worth every penny.I’d highly recommend 10x over. Thank you to Alexandros and his amazing team.

    From day one, my mother and I, were treated with hospitality and warmth at this amazing hotel. Alexander, the hotel manager, personally welcomed us and gave us a clear introduction to everything the hotel had to offer. He also surprised us with some wonderful news that our room had been upgraded to a sea view. The view from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking! He even carried our luggage all the way up to our room at 3rd floor and also showed us how to use the safe which was free of charge.Our room was spotless, and we received fresh towels every day.My mom and I enjoyed lazy mornings by the pool and some days at the beach, which was just a few steps away, with free sundbeds that belongs to the hotel.The service was great. The staff were so friendly and professional, and you really felt cared for.A huge thank you to everyone at Santa Marina Plaza Giannoulis for your kindness, smiles and for making our stay unforgettable.
